Last year I installed five IPC-HDW5231R-ZE cameras at my office, I'm using Blue Iris on a dedicated server. I'm happy with the system and performance of the cameras. Now I'm building my home system. I noticed the new Starlight 4MP cameras now offered, the reviews seem very positive. I figure if I go with the 4MP version I can use one of my 5231 cameras to test mount each location to figure which version would work best either 2.8mm, 3.6mm or 6mm at that location. Do you think I'd be happier with the new cams or should I stick with the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE? Pricing seems about the same for both.

My system is mostly 5231s. Over the past few months I've gotten two of the new 5442 and like their night-time image quality better than my 2MP Starlights. Many of my 5231s are zoomed to settings that aren't close to 2.8mm, 3.6mm or 6mm so I'm keeping my 5231s in those locations.

If you don't need sound, there is a new 2231 S2 model (2MP Starlight varifocal turret) that has slightly better low-light ratings than the 5231.
