Hi all. I just upgraded my Security camera system from a 720p to 4k. I'm going from a Samsung B3300 to adding 3 Amcrest 4k POE IP cameras. So, with that I just had to upgrade my PC to accommodate the new load. I built a pc with an i9 9900k core, Nvidia RTX 2070, 32gig Ram and a 8T 7200RPM HD. I think I'll be set for awhile.
I can make things harder than they need to be but these cameras along with Blue Iris was a breeze. I will be looking over all of the posts in time. I'm sure if I have question, it more than likely has been asked.

Also look over this post about using sub streams for motion detection.
It will help tons with CPU time.

Your PC should last you a long time.
Just a couple notes for when you get a hankering to upgrade,
Drive speed will not make a lot of difference when used for video storage.
An SSD for the system will make a lot more difference.

I do have a Samsung 960 500G SSD. I use it for the BI but the storage goes to the 8T hard drive
