HI All,

I am itching to get a decent quality Cam System for my house and I know Zmodo ISN'T considered the best quality system but it is better than nothing.

What I think I need.
1. 4 cams 2 on back 2 on front. (to start with) (4 added later) 8 port system (720p to 1080p POE)
2. Standalone NVR (for ease of use) ((But I also have a i5 10tb NAS (Flexraid) <---
3. Video only Cams (audio a as bonus)
4. Semi-Open source system / Upgradability.. (can change cams across board if neede)

Reasons for purchasing this Zmodo System :
1. I have $500 in BestBuy Credit I can use (essentially free) *** 1 day only deal!!!***
2. Has 8 cams and NVR and 2tb Hard drive.
3. Getting home system sooner than later (But would wait if Best Buy has better systems in this price range)

Thoughts?

If you have $500 in BB credit, then I would certainly go with this system instead. It only has 1TB drive and not a 2TB, but the fact the Swann is a rebrand of Hikvision makes up for it. I think you would be better off with the 4 720p/4 1080p cams than you would be with 8 720p cams. Just my take though.

That is a TVI system, not ip.

I think I can get 4 cams installed and use my existing POE switch and my FreeNAS Box to store the footage.

Anyone do anything similar?

Do yourself a huge favor and dont buy the zmodo. You can sell your 500 dollar gift card to a reputable online card buyer for around 450.
Take the money and buy something better. The zmodo my use a proprietary poe setup and are generally awful.
