I am using dahua NVRs and they are separated network from The LAN nework in IPs range .
NVRs,cameras starts with: 172.16.16.1....200
LAN terminals, devices starts With:
192.168.1.1....200
Modem/router with:
123.124.125.1
DHCP Off
Now I want to understand what is the point of making the nvr tcp/ip protocol settings accepts the default gateway's ip ,only if it was in the same range of the nvr ip ?. Why cannot use the ip 123.124.125.1,where other platforms accept that .
that means I have only 2 ways to do it.
1- changing the nvr ip to be same as modem/router range.
2- running another modem/router specially for NVRs to assign its ip as 172.16.16.5 for example.

Am I right ? Or I am missing something?

Sorry guys, my knowledge in routing is not that good.
Thanks for helping me

The modem/router IP appears to be the WAN IP not the LAN IP. If you're using a Windows PC, you can open a Command Prompt andt type ipconfig. That will give you the IP of your router (gateway).
