With 2 out of 3 methods, I can reach my NVR.

My system:
- A non-poe NVR (NVR4216) w/ separate POE injectors to 4 cams.
- Everything seems to be working.
- Except, I can't reach the NVR with a browser. Nothing has changed on my network. I'm puzzled.

From my Lenovo & Toshiba laptops:
Can ping the NVR (on both laptops)
Smart PSS works with the NVR (on both laptops)
(therefore, ip Address & mask is proper).
Can NOT surf to NVR UI with Chrome, FireFox, Edge, or PaleMoon.
CAN surf to camera UI’s (on same subnet as NVR) with Chrome, FireFox, Edge & PaleMoon

The NVR's native UI works. All settings look okay, it seems.

Why can I ping the NVR, or use SmartPSS with the NVR, but using a browser generates an "Unable to connect" error.
Any ideas what I should look for?

TIA,
Fastb

I have seen this behavior before, You did not mention IE with the browsers you listed, I suggest you try IE first, clear all your cookies, in other words a plug in issue MIGHT be the issue. If that does not work, you might have to go to your NVR console to settings and default the network settings, These NVR's can do weird things all by themselves sometimes.

@c hris527 and @fenderman ,
Thanks for the replies, and your guidance.

I followed both pieces of advice. On the NVR in the CONNECTIONS tab, I used the "Default" button.
The only setting change that I noticed: HTTP Port was 8000, and now it's 80.

The browser can now surf to the native UI in the NVR. Solved!

True Dat! The NVR has been running for years.
I didn't change the https port number!

Thanks again!

Cool , Old Man Fenderman(ha ha he is probably younger than me) was spot on with the port issue. I got thinking about WHY SmartPss was working now, Its uses TCP 37777, the NVR (webgui)Is using HTTP 80. Makes sense. One thing you can do now is back up your NVR Config file to a thumb or network drive in case something hiccups again, cheap Insurance.

Note, 8000 is the default hikvision media port for mobile apps. 80 is the default http port for web browsers.
EDIT, its a dahua...so never mind.
