You need to use hikvision protocol when you add the camera to the nvr.
It sounds like you are using onvif instead which will give you an error

The ports don't have anything to do with it
When you add the camera to the nvr there will be an option at the bottom to select the protocol
That needs to have hikvision selected

Ok, will try to add the camera from box direct and not the web gui

Did you find any solutions? I have same problem with my DS-7108N-SN/P fw v3.0.13 and DS-2DE2202-DE3/W camera. PTZ controls in web interface says "Operation failed or no permissions" and PTZ settings says "Error network is disconnect or abnormal". Protocol is right (hikvision).

I am thinking the cameras no longer support Hikvision NVR.

As you can see on the picture below I have it setup correct but still get "Operation failed or no permission". This is channel D04.

An update on the PTZ controls for the Mini PTZ and the Hikvision DS-7104N-SN/P (China version with multi-language firmware).

Upgraded the firmware using (yes, hold your breath) the GUI. Went from version 3.0.13 150503 to 3.0.18 151231. PTZ controls are now working in the NVR GUI for the Mini PTZ cams, NVR GUI is still in english, NVR settings preserved. I've attached the 3.0.18 firmware I used in this post. I had to try the upgrade twice, first time it gave me an error. I went to another option in the menu, came back and tried again. This time it worked.

The firmware attached is good for both the DS-7104N-SN/P and the DS-7108N-SN/P I've updated both types at different sites.

ALL FLASHING IS DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK - This worked for me, that does not mean it will work for you.

NOTE: Considering that the NVR update solved the issue I can only assume the camera was correctly setup and the hacked china firmware (3.0.13) that came with the NVR had broken PTZ control protocols.

Bought an DS-7104N-SN/P from newegg.ca (box was in Chinese, firmware in English 3.0.13 150503, on the box warning sticker written "Do not up upgrade it") that came with 4 Mini PT Network cameras (DS-2CD2F42FWD-IWS; box was in English, 2 with firmware 5.4.5 170124 & 2 with firmware 5.4.3 160902). Update the Mini PT Network camera firmware from 5.4.3 to 5.4.5 with success (from firmware from Hikvision Europe portal). All cameras are now working with on firmware 5.4.5. The PTZ function never worked when connected directly to the back of the NVR. Only when connected to a switch with an external power supply that I could control these cameras (with DCHP enabled beforehand through SDAP tool).

I learned the hard way after I change the language flag from EN/ML(1) to CN (2) Hikvision Europe portal (NVR_71_4_8_SN_BL_EN_STD_V3.0.18_151231.zip) after the update the NVR beeps for a couple seconds then reboot itself. Thanks to this forum, I downloaded the HikvisionEmergencyFirmwareRecoveryTFTP from archive.org and used kantzow's attachement file (see post #9, above) which brought my NVR back to life but the interface is now in Chinese and the camera no longer is detected at all as before?

Sorry for the long post, if someone can help me out or have a suggestion I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't know if this could help but i've attached below 2 screenshots of iVMS 4200 v1.02.04.1 under mac.

Good news! I will explain what I did just in case someone buy the same thing as me and found out their remote PTZ function is also broken out of the box as of 2017/07.

Using TFTP auto-update, I returned back to 3.0.13 using firmware from post #141 (thanks to eXtremer and whoslooking) this brings back English interface. Afterwards, I upgraded the NVR to firmware 3.0.20 build 161126 from kantzow's post#30through USB. It kept the English interface. Now everything works properly including remote PTZ!

*UPDATE* 20th july 2017:
New firmware released on Chinese Hikvision website yesterday V3.0.21 build170417 also successfully upgraded via USB on NVR DS-7104N-SN/P. No idea what are the changes.
