I've tried searching. I'm betting I just don't understand...

When I connect directly from computer to camera(s), connect via web, go to setup, system, default, and hit the default button... Get warning "Are you sure to reset default config?" Hit Yes. Camera (seems to) reboot.

But, I can't tell anything changes. IP address is the same (10.1.1.XX), password is the same, setting appear to be same.

I expect the camera to go to factory default settings?

I'm probably being dense. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? Is a hard reset (via button on camera) the only way to reset to factory?

Thanks!!

you're in a Dahua forum, so i'll assume you have Dahua cam, since you didn't specify...

Yes, all Dahua cams. Sorry.

Mine is different from yours. No "factory default".

I just kept hitting buttons until something happened. :)
Upgrading the firmware gave me the "factory default" option.
I'm guessing the old firmware expected you to use the mechanical button for factory reset.
Thanks!!!
