Hello, I would like to ask a couple of things about my IP camera Dahua, model: IPC-HDW4631C-A

1. I saw somewhere on the internet that Dahua cameras support add-ons like face recognition and car plate recognition, are those add-ons available for my camera?

2. I have just installed Smart PSS and got my camera set up, is there anything I can do to "better" it like some firmware update or something?

3. How can I set it up for 24/7 recording and automatically deleting the oldest footage to make space for a new one?

Welcome Reje,

That is a Chinese Market camera - you want to be very cautious with any firmware updates - you will need to check and confirm that any firmware updates will not revert the camera back to Chinese ( unless of course you can read Chinese ).

Also do look at the wiki here for security notes on how to better secure your setup.

Basically - do NOT port forward. Turn off UPnP. Watch for and block P2P.

1-You have purchased a China Region hacked to english camera. It can't be updated.

2-Make sure you have the latest version of Smartpss current version is 2.02.1

3-That camera doesn't have an SD card slot, so you can use SmartPss to record to your hard drive.

I also think I wont be doing any security to the setup as this will be placed in a place where people wouldnt even attempt at hacking anything, but what can someone do if they try? I have set a static IP on my computer to connect to camera that is basically all.

Also does anyone know how to do that setup in Smart PSS? I was looking all over the place but very confusing guides.

If the camera is accessible via the internet ( typically happens when people use P2P, UPnP, and/or port fowarding ) - it is subject to getting cyberjacked.

If someone does that it is typically for various illegal activities such as: Attacking financial companies online, stealing bitcoin, mining bitcoin, passing ransomware / kiddie porn or other illegal content, .. normally attackers do not care about the video from the cameras - only the CPU power and the network connection.

So definitely take some precautions and read the securing your setup notes in the wiki ( blue bar above )

This is chinese translate to be English, can use Chinese firmware to update. But once you update, it will change all to be Chinese. Not recommend to update.
P2P is block when change to be English firmware, but in china can use .
