Hi everybody,

I have a question regarding what most people use for recording settings on their systems?
In the past, I would record only on motion to save HD space. However, I've had incidents happen where the motion fails and the system failed to record.

I traditionally use HIKVISION products, and my solution was to record continuously at 8fps, and on motion at 15-20fps.

I recently had to use Dahua and I could not do this with their settings.

I'm wondering what others use as their setup to save space if you need to do continuous recording but want a better picture on motion.

Is what I'm doing proper? I've heard some solutions with changing bitrates?

Thoughts please.

Spend another $150 bucks on another big hdd and let your cams record continuously. You can turn down your fos to 12 fps and turn the bitrate down to 896, but you will be comprimising quality. Why spend money on hd cameras and tune them way down.
