Enable / Disable Motion Detection with iVMS 4500

In case this slipped you by, Hikvision recently introduced a frequently requested feature with their iVMS 4500 4.4.0 update, which is the ability to configure a connected device remotely and enable / disable motion detection via a mobile device.

Configuration options are currently limited - for full configuration, you will still need to access the device via a web browser, iVMS 4200 etc.

Many of our customers in the past have expressed their desire for this functionality. A common scenario was the ability to enable motion detection alerts when they leave the house without first having to boot a PC and do so via a web browser. This is now possible.

Update your iVMS 4500 and load it up.

Open the menu via the button in the top left and select "Devices"

Select the device you wish to configure from the list of added devices. In this example, we only have one device added, but you may have multiple.

Verify that all of the device information is correct, and then select the new '...' button in the bottom right, on the "Start Live View" bar.

This will open a new context menu. Select 'Remote Configuration' to access the configuration options for your device.

The 'Remote Controller' option will allow you to use your phone as a remote control to navigate your NVRs local menus / GUI - useful for those of you who have your NVR tucked away somewhere safe and display it via a monitor elsewhere on site.

This will bring up the configuration options that iVMS 4500 currently has access to. Feel free to explore these.

For now, we're interested in motion detection, so tap on the 'Normal Event' option.

In this window, you can directly enable or disable motion detection, video tampering and video loss alarms provided your camera has this functionality. Simply tap on the desired alert.

After a brief moment, this option will be enabled / disabled.

As mentioned above, the rest of the configuration options are somewhat limited. However, hopefully in the future further options will be made available to iVMS 4500, as it sees widespread use and has the potential to provide full remote access to your NVR via a device we all carry.

This should help those of you who want to disable motion-triggered email alerts when you're out and about!
