I have the following camera:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=2P0-000J-00083

According to the specs at 5MP it should support the following resolution: 2592x1920

After setting it to 5MP in the settings of the camera, entering in the resolution 2590x1920 manually in BI will not load the camera until after a few seconds it appears to "re-adjust" and the camera will display at a resolution of 2688x1520.

Is there something I overlooked?

Welcome to the forum. Blue iris automatically adjusts to the cameras stream. Make sure you are using the correct URL for the camera and that the camera is in fact sending a 5mp stream.

It's the only HD camera I have, and the picture is very clear compared to the other cheap IP cameras I have. Also the resolution BI sees at 2688x1520 is higher in the Horizontal (even higher than 2592). These are the other resolutions listed:
5.0MP - 1920P@15fps Pixel 2592(H)×1920(V)
3.0MP - 1536P@30fps
Pixel 2048(H)×1536(V)
2.0MP -
1080P@30fps Pixel 1920(H)×1080(V)
Support 1-30 frames/second adjustable

try lowering the frame rate on the camera? only supports the highest rez up to 15 fps, so if you've got something higher specified, it may be scaling back. just a guess...

When setting the 5MP setting on the camera the frame rate only allows up to 15fps setting max (this can't be changed higher). The only thing I can think of is maybe the resolution on the camera is really 2688x1520 @ 5MP or BI isn't handling the resolution properly. The only other thing I can think of is accessing BI via Remote Desktop and it would interfere with BI reading the resolution properly (which I doubt). I'll try setting the frame rate lower than 15 and accessing the desktop physically and not through RDP.

Thanks for the responses! Hopefully I can get some time in testing more in a few days.

@tensoneu Are you using onvif (BI find inspect function) or standard dropdown menu? Try this, ppen the stream in VLC. Then select tools>codec info..see what it displays.

I contacted tech support for the formatting of the RSTP stream. After entering it into VLC here are the results:
1) Main Stream (5MP setting):
Type: Video
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4-AVC (part 10) (h264)
Resolution: 2688x1538
Display resolution: 2688x1512
Frame rate: 15
Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0:YUV full scale

2) Sub Stream:
Type: Video
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4-AVC (part 10) (h264)
Resolution: 720x482
Display resolution: 720x480
Frame rate: 15
Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV full scale

I have replied to support how to achieve the 2592x1920 resolution with the results discovered. Currently awaiting an answer.

@tensoneu Interesting, there is something certainly strange with the camera...Its basically only putting out a 4mp stream..

In case anyone else is looking for this model camera. The cameras I received do not support the listed 1920p resolution. According to tech support they received a "wrong batch".
