Recordings made at factory defualts, except for channel title and time setting.
Recorded and exported with Blue Iris.
As you can see, it has the common issue that some recent cams have had, that will require a firmware fix with the IR blowing out faces.

Seems to be no difference between this and the IPC-5241TM-ASE

Given that the 2431 is 4MP on a 1/3" sensor, which is really anemic even at 2MP, the 5241 will run rings around it all night long. Chase sensor size, not megapixels unless you have night time lighting like a baseball stadium holding a night game.

And to sell Lorex 4K at that pricepoint, they are not on an ideal MP/sensor ratio. A 2MP will blow away a 4K on anything but the 1/1.2" sensor all night long.

My neighbor was bragging to me how he only needed his four 2.8mm fixed lens 4k cams Lorex cams to see his entire property and the street and his whole backyard. His car was sitting in the driveway practically touching the garage door and his video quality was useless to ID the perp not even 10 feet away. Meanwhile my 2MP varifocal optically zoomed in to the public sidewalk provided the money shot to the police to get my neighbors all their stuff back. Nobody else had video that could provide anything useful, other than what time this motion blur ghost was at their car.

Ya I agree. 6 of them will be inside a store watching cash and workers, lots of lights 2 outside not much light.

They'd probably do fine inside, but outside would be a fail. Just don't shut the lights off inside if you want good video though.

What about pre setting camera instead of default settings. Would I be better off with 1/30 auto (default) or pre setting every camera at 1/60? I have worked with certain uniview cameras before and noticed there default was at 1/50 exposure.

The faster the shutter, the less the motion blur. But the faster the shutter, the darker the image, so it is a balance that if field of view dependent.

Dialing in is location specific generally speaking. That said, you don't want shutter speeds slower than 1/60 at night. Remember 1/60 is twice as fast as 1/30. Leaving anything on auto will have dubious results depending on each specific location.

I understand and I am trying to dial in my own personal cameras like this via good write ups from you guys, but it takes days of trial and error. I don’t have this kinda time on customer installs that are on a budget. So I thought maybe there was a better default setting for each model camera.
