Just wondering if there are any potential problems with snipping one or more of the alarm-out/unneeded pigtail connections to reduce the size of the pigtail. I'm contemplating a tree install and will only need the POE connection and would rather jettison the other connections if doing so want harm the use of the camera. Any info appreciated.

Your mileage may vary.
I've done it and it's fine.
Snip back, but then I applied super glue to hold the remaining wire stubs in place and to seal them up.
The camera doesn't care.
If you accidently connect the wires, then change NO to NC in alarm page :)
The 12V input doesn't care if shorted, only cancels PoE if it sees voltage.

That's helpful, thanks, I went ahead and snipped and seems fine.
