I saw this creature a couple of weeks ago and he skipped my cans. This week, I didn't have any recycling (blue bin) out but I saw him rummaging through the can from a house two doors to the left, just out of view behind the white car. In this video, he enters from the left and rides past the three blue bins in view of the camera before making a left hook and stopped at one just out of view.

The cameras are 3.6mm fixed Dahua starlights @ 10 fps recorded by Blue Iris.

These guys know who tosses out the returnables.

Where I am, it's only liquor and beer bottles/cans that are returnable and they know who just tosses them into their bins.
    They ride/walk right past mine.

Where I live it is against the law to take any recyclables. It is basically stealing money from the township.
The township gets money for the recycling and it helps to keep the property taxes down.

Same here, except the trash company gets the money but that's supposedly factored into the contract price the city pays for collection. Here, any recyclables like plastic, glass, metal, and paper go into the blue bins.

Yes...piloting a low emission, single occupant, human-powered, bi-wheeled, terrestrial vehicle with low carbon footprint...very trendy in California.

We're about 5 years away from those being required by law.

Its getting pretty bad. California is out of the law enforcement business and I don't see it getting any better before it gets worse. My house was nearly broken into a few months ago which is what brought me here. My primary goal of running cameras is to first encourage sh*theads to skip my house.

It seems it certainly is, if one is to believe even half of what he sees/hears from the media. I truly am saddened.

So it seems also. I'd say one has to do what it takes to protect himself, his loved ones and his property.

I concur. One should increment their response: deter and discourage then hope that succeeds.

And if that doesn't do the trick, I would suggest that the last thing the sh*thead recalls is the distinct sound of a shell being racked into a 12 gauge pump. :blankstare:

Little off topic - want to congratulate you and your neighborhood in general for 'playing by the rules' so consistently. Everyone's can's are lined up beautifully, everyone's front yards are neat, extremely well groomed, edged, blown, etc. Everyone parks nicely without extra crap in yards. Wow. Nice hood!

    Yes, it is.

FYI, the city I lived at in N. CA for 29 years has various ordinances in place (and they ARE enforced) against overgrown /non-maintained weeds & lawn, non-maintained structures, parking cars and leaving crap on lawn. You also were required to store your cans out of view except on pickup days...I think it was called "nuisance abatement". I thought it was a good thing, mostly.

It's too bad that some people will only try to be neat, keep the noise down, etc. if there a law against it....but that's civilization, I guess. They have to be forced to get along with their neighbors. Too many people have no idea what it takes to get along with others....they think the sun rises and sets for them each day.

Now I live in a rural setting where practically anything goes...it has taken some getting used to. It has it good points....and bad. Mainly, the a$$holes that want to park on their lawn, pile old washing machines around the house like they were collectibles and let their 3 un-spayed or un-neutered dogs run loose have moved OUT of places with rules and IN to a single-wide trailer down the road from me.......

Well this is a WTF moment, as in what the fuck is wrong @Mr_D? That is not a creature, it's another human being. Probably an American citizen. Perhaps an American veteran. Perhaps the answer is that @Mr_D isn't a Christian, for if he was he certainly wouldn't be calling another human being a "creature."

Too many, at least of the run down variety. Many are nice, though. Those are called "manufactured homes". Not everyone can afford (or wants ) a conventional, frame house. We all gotta live somewhere, right?

I'm not attempting to speak for @Mr_D , just wanted to mention this:
According to Webster's Online Dictionary, a "creature" can be a "human being".
