I've emailed Ken about this and he said he was not aware of it.

For the past year or so, whenever I go into a non-active portion of video, ie: a part that was recorded one-fame-per minute periodic, it will dim the window like so. It seems to be intentional, and is great on the timeline view to highlight where the action is, but when I'm looking for details in a video I need not use WMP just to get a clear video output. Is there a way to keep this from happening? Check that date, it's not a solar eclipse.... just a total eclipse of my heart...
