I've been using BI for about 6 months now and know it well enough to modify archive settings and such. Unfortunately what just happened today may motivate me to delete BI forever...unless someone from this forum can come to my rescue. I have 4 cameras that were scheduled to record different locations during our backyard wedding on Sep 02, and a day later I confirmed the footage was there. Auto-delete was set to 60 days, and for a few months I've had access to files that were as old as 60 days...so everything was working, right?

As of right now, I have no files left for Sep 02 and Sep 03 (only 1 exception and the video was of course not important). I have searched all folders (new, backup, stored) and somehow all other files were deleted! How does this happen?...and can anyone help me re-store these files?

The files were not in the obvious places such as Recycle Bin or BI Backup. Somehow, magically I have 2 days of nearly no activity despite motion sensors causing recordings on avg every other hour or so. On my wedding day I changed the record setting from "when triggered" to "continuous". I did notice there was a limit set to the file size on recordings, but then why did they exist initially? Not to mention, why are other smaller files also gone?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! My wedding footage is on the chopping block!

No software package will prevent a faulty setup or defy the laws of physics...you may have set 60 days of retention but that is meaningless if the storage limit is insufficient to support that long retention...when you set recording to continuous mode you severely shorten the retention time...
What you should of done was save the video soon after or at least protected the clips, so BI would not erase it

i didnt notice the storage limit previously given it was never an issue. this software has allot of settings, many Ill never actually use. given we know the file was created...the real question becomes, is there a means to recover auto deleted? whats further confusing is why nothing was recorded the next day after I turned the recordings off. there just seems to be something more happening here and I was curious if anyone could help.

Its right there in the settings..in fact, you should not even use the day limit...only the storage limit...
if nothing was written over you may be able to recover the files using something like recuva...doubtful as it was likely overwritten...
if you turned the recordings off, that would explain why nothing was recorded...what is happening is user error...

I appreciate the consistent emphasis of user error, however that is not helping. The recordings were present. I viewed them the very next day. What I obviously overlooked was the software's intent to auto-delete, apparently within a 24-48 hr time frame. I am looking for anyone with feedback on how BI may back up files or any means to recover. Ive tried recovery software, but with no success. if no feeedback here, Ill send to a recovery specialist and hope the files werent over written.

It is user error...and you are still not understanding...the video is OVERWRITTEN when the SIZE limit OR the day limit is met. blue iris is not magical...the fact that you viewed it a day or two after is irrelevant...there is nothing backup...no recovery specialist will be able to recover data that was overwritten...its gone..your money will be gone too if you pay someone to try to recover it...

All it would have taken is a right click on the clips and selected protect.
The help file explains this.
