When recording as MP4 - BI client and web return "unable to connect"

Is it expected that if I am recording in MP4 format that I will get "unable to connect" when viewing video through the BI client and the web?

You need to install the k-lite codec pack here...http://blueirissoftware.com/third-party-software/
Keep in mind that blue iris dvr format is the most efficient and allows playback of the clip while its recording.

Awesome that worked! I guess maybe I should do bvr then convert for archival.

since I am recording on a server it's easier for me to play also since most of the time i'll be playing on a machine that doesn't have BI.

In that case I would simply record to mp4
