Figures a witch and her two kids or siblings would take all the candy... Her shiny nice watch tells me it's the parent.

Don't kill me. Obviously the camera is too high and useless. I set this cam here as a temp halloween camera.
It's usually further down the deck getting an "Overall Coverage" shot.
Eventually I'll run one down at eye level for the door.

And here I thought it was the hoodies we had to worry about blocking our view of perps' faces! Next time I go out on a burglary spree, I'm getting a witch hat!

The last poor girl didn't get anything, unless they split up the "loot" when they got home!

I've edited out the other politically incorrect comments I was tempted to make.

Last year we had a few kids empty us out of over 2kg of sweets in one go - this year we had quite a few attempt it and none of them realised they were on the Nest Hello right in front of their faces (as well as the other cameras)!!

The first witch looks a bit like a fella in drag.

Yeah, "mama witch" taught them well.....take what you can, not what you deserve and don't care about others...after all, the sun rises and sets just for you every day.

Next lesson? As you get older, you need to know how to fake a disability and cheat the system.... get that "free government money" that you're entitled to, as they say.

@J Sigmo ....notice I could care less about being politically correct, you likely have a higher tolerance for thieves than I do.

It wasn't the thievery I was going to comment on. It was, well, never mind. Let's just say that perhaps none of them will need to fake that disability. ;)

And you're right. The same mindset that lets you steal more than your fair share of Halloween candy is the very same reason that socialism cannot work, and government mandated welfare is a dead end trap for many who receive it.

Back when people lived in small tribes or communities, which is most of human history and evolution, everyone knew everyone else fairly well. The group was small enough that nobody felt OK just sponging off of their friends and neighbors, but by the same token, nobody went without the charity and support of the group when they really needed it.

But as the human population has exploded, and people live amongst groups so large that they know close to zero percent of the group, they're able to sponge from those unknown others without being noticed personally, or feeling any shame or guilt for ripping off their faceless benefactors.

Now that was political. Correctness will be in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

And if they tried, they'd be banished to the desert, forest, tundra, etc or worse when the group got tired of their BS.

Thieves and scumbags exist everywhere and have no political allegiance...the sad fact is, their numbers appears to be on the rise.
I'm not sure if bad behavior is on the rise, or if I've just grown less tolerant of it. Just ten minutes ago, I was driving to work, and a guy driving a large truck stopped at a stop sign in front of me. Rather than proceeding, he opened his door and poured out what may have been a bottle of piss. Whatever, the thing that bugged me was that he didn't care that he was holding up the people behind him. His life is so important, and he's so "entitled", that he doesn't have to worry about inconveniencing others. A small thing, but an example of the lack of consideration that bugs me more these days than I think it might have in years gone by.

And if they tried, they'd be banished to the desert, forest, tundra, etc or worse when the group got tired of their BS.
That's an interesting point. Perhaps people's behavior is actually getting worse. If someone was banished for being lazy and greedy, their genes and epigenetics would have been removed from the gene pool back through human history. Today, large populations mask, and many social systems tolerate, or even reward such behavior.

It's like a lot of us. We're so blind that back in cave-man days, we'd have probably died without reproducing. But now, we've got glasses and contacts, and Lasic, etc., so the genes for crummy eyesight are not "weeded out".

That saber-tooth tiger won't sneak up on me, not when I'm wearing my glasses! :D

Natural selection in the animal world does not exist in the human race any more. You are correct @J Sigmo , the gene pool of the human population is now tainted with moron behavior and just plain bad genes. Just look around when you drive down the street.

Sheesh...you guys certainly are ready to condemn all of human-kind because one witch-bitch took more than her fair share of candy. :)

I did not imply that nor did I read that here from others.....what I intended to convey and what I got from other posts concurred that it seems to be happening more and/or there seems to be more people that are selfish and out for whatever they want with less regard for others.

IMO, none of that sounds like an attempt to "condemn all of human-kind" to me.

It seems weird that an elderly lady would go Trick-or-Treating, let alone grab all the candy that she could hold. Something tells me that she planned this heist and knew that the bowl of candy would be unattended.

Is she that poor that she has to steal candy from the kids who are looking toward the enjoyment of Halloween? The holiday has already been destroyed by adults, yet she takes it to a new level.

Is it a common practice in your area to leave a bowl of candy unattended for the Trick-or-Treat kids? I've never known anyone to do that. It's seems like a reasonable idea, but only for those who would abide by the honor system. However, like everything else, someone like her and that kid will eventually abuse it.

it seems to be happening more
Ok, so let me get this right Tony...have you deduced that "it seems to be happening more" based upon the posts you have in this topic? Did the 11 posts to this topic form the entire body of evidence which has helped you form this conclusion? Or, have you experienced other incidents which have served to help you to form this conclusion? In addition, "everywhere" is, well, it's a very big place Tony; how do you know that these "thieves and scumbags" are everywhere? Have you actually been "everywhere," or are you a part of some extensive all-encompassing Everywhere Network whose agents report back to you with reliable confirmation of thievery and scumbagedness everywhere?

Lucky they left the bowl. Nice class act.
I'm not convinced 'mom' was involved, I'm thinking an older sister.

Bowls walking off is one of the reasons I don't leave a bowl of candy sitting out and it's good to actually talk to your neighbors at least once a year.

I have a few friends who've rigged up their own robotic decorations and an intercom to talk to the kids equipt with a system for metered candy dispensing.
Rigging something to scare the crap out of anyone who picks up the bowl is pretty easy or you can go low tech and put the candy in a paper bag with the bottom mostly cut out.

I spent 35 years running a movie theatre. I watched the gene pool degenerate rapidly along the way.
In 1981 when I started, there was some semblance of parental actions over the kids they had with them when they mis-behaved.
As time went on, I could easy see that slipping away til the point of the kids were in complete control of their parents.

We've had several generations now of parents wanting to be their child's "friend, buddy, bff" and believing in giving participation trophy's, instead of being their mentor, providing guidance and discipline. Of all the kids that was reprimanded by me while they were there, only 1 or 2 percent of the parents that came to pick them up because I ejected them, ever told me they were sorry for the kids behavior. Most were upset that I didn't give them a refund. Even tho their kid had disrupted a movie for 200 other folks.
