I would start with 3 cams and max out at 6 but most likely end up with only 5 cameras.
Cams would be 8MP no plans for any PTZ.

Would this be a good build?

POE -LINKSYS LGS308P 8-Port Business Smart Gigabit PoE+ Switch - Newegg.com
PC - support for H.265
1. HP ProDesk 600 G2 SFF Intel i5-6500 3.20GHz 8GB RAM 1TB HDD | 10331BA | eBay
2. HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF - i5 Vpro - 8GB RAM - 1TB HDD Win 10 Pro/Office 2013 | eBay
3. or

What else would I need to output video to a TV on 4k.
Or you guys just output HD to a tablet?
I would use Blue Iris.

Thanks.

You will need 3-6th gen i7 or an 8th gen i5 if you plan on 6 8mp cameras and want some headroom. The question is did you read the wiki and do you understand that most 8mp cameras perform poorly in low light and at night. Dont let mp OCD get the best of you.
you dont need to output to a 4k tv. Use a local monitor 1080p so it can be always on.

I was looking at getting the Dahua deterrence with the LED.

I would install under the soffit above the garage door 1 on each corner. There is 1 street light just to the left of my drive way.
I would say the street light from where 1 of the cam would be mounted Is about 26ft and to the other 36ft according to google maps.

But for the rear of the house there no lights beside the solar lights I have on the floor.
So then I would get the 2mp for the rear.
The porch I have HUE with a sensor so there is light 1 cam.

That would be 4 cams and then 1 more behind the garage for a total of 5 I could do a 6 one on the other front corner of the house.

I upload a diagram of the house later

What is the version for those processor so I can start looking for a deal.

I was thinking of setup up the PC by the TV and hook it up to see live feed from time to time.

If not I might just set it up away from direct contact and log in using the iPad.

Here yellow dot would be for sure cameras.

Blue I am not 100% sure if I would install a camera there as well.

Front garage there a 90degree corner I am not sure if I would install the camera to the left or right side.
Hi @Cloudbuster

Looks like a good plan, now it's time to start testing the plan w/the test rig.

Example of a good test here by @MrGlasspoole - this is what you want to test both during the day and at night :

"Me the test dummy (don't skip i run at the end):"
