Xeon CPU's with QuickSync?

I just got myself 2 x Samsung SNH-V6414BN SmartCam HD Plus 1080p Wi-Fi Cameras which are great actually, but going from a single 720p camera, to 2 x 1080p cams have increased my CPU requirements quite a bit. I currently run BI in a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM with 2GB of RAM and 2 x vCores of a Xeon E3-1265L V2 on my ESXi host

But in order to get best performance and use QuickSync, I want to make it physical

I always see people recomend Ivy Bridge+ i5's and i7's, but never hear anything about Xeon's. I would much rather use a Xeon as I want to use a Supermicro board with IPMI. The 1u Supermicro CSE-512-200B chassis are very cheap, and not very loud at all

What are the general iGPU requirements for Blue Iris?

The Xeon E3-1225 v2 is very cheap, supports QuickSync and has "Intel® HD Graphics P4000" - Supported?

The Xeon E3-1265L v2 I already own, supports QuickSync and has "Intel® HD Graphics 2500" - Supported?

How do these compare to the i5 and i7 CPU's everyone loves?

1225 doesn't support hyperthreading. Avoid it.

V2 Xeons are Ivy Bridge. Equivalent of the 3xxx series i processors.

I run an E3-1280 v2 with (currently) eight 5MP cams 1080p at 15fps. BI clocks about 18% (Blue Iris CPU numbers) / 7% Windows numbers.

The box you are already running should be well more than enough to handle 2 cams. What CPU numbers are you posting?

My xeon doesn't support it. I think mine is a 1231. Not at home to look. I have 41 cameras running 7-10 FPS at 2.1 MP. My CPU runs around 50% so it's not always needed but anything to lower the CPU strain is best. Stick with an i5 or an i7

Noted also that you are running BI within a VM. AFAIK (and this could be incorrect), but BI won't run as a service on a VM. Using the GUI as a running app increases CPU usage pretty substantially in comparison to running it as a service.

If it's a Haswell (1231 falls into that range), only the xxx5 and xxx6 (i.e. E3-1275 v3 / E3-1276 v3) have iGPUs. The only exception is the 1284L, and that one has some sort of weird Iris Pro GPU on die, not the usual HD Graphics)

I'm currently running BI as a service on a Windows 8.1 Pro VM running on my unRAID server (www.lime-technology.com).

I'm strongly considering upgrading to an i7-7700k on an Asus Prime Z270-A with 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM. I'm just not sure if the host will allow the use of QuickSync in the processor or not. I'm not that smart.
