sanity check... this an OK pc for 1st BlueIris

So, the pc came in early, on Friday, instead of Monday. Did a fresh install of Win10. Installed the 2nd NIC. PC on 192.168.1.XX side and cameras on 10.1.1.XX side. Got BlueIris up and running. Upgraded all the cameras firmware, restored to factory, and started fresh. New, strong...

    putting cams back to default

I just kept hitting buttons until something happened. :) Upgrading the firmware gave me the "factory default" option. I'm guessing the old firmware expected you to use the mechanical button for factory reset. Thanks!!!

Yes, all Dahua cams. Sorry. Mine is different from yours. No "factory default".

    putting cams back to default

I've tried searching. I'm betting I just don't understand... When I connect directly from computer to camera(s), connect via web, go to setup, system, default, and hit the default button... Get warning "Are you sure to reset default config?" Hit Yes. Camera (seems to) reboot. But, I can't...

Yes, of course it does. And I'm an idiot. :) Tried to cancel. If not, I'll return. Geesh....

sanity check... this an OK pc for 1st BlueIris

Just ordered another ethernet card (for a total of two, one for the camera's network), SSD, and 16 port poe switch. I'm fairly confident I want the cameras on their own network - replicating what my broken Dahua NVR (NVR5216-16P-4KS2) used to do. Seems more secure that way... making sure the...

OK, I think I'm just going to buy this one off ebay. Dell Optiplex 9020 MT i7-4790 3.60GHz 8GB DDR3 500GB Win 10 Pro - $280 Should I plan on reinstalling the OS, for security purposes? Anything else I should think about re: buying off ebay (never done it before)? I really appreciate...

Yeah, I'm still obsessing, like an idiot. I take it this would be silly/overkill/inefficient? (from DellRefurbished) $440 shipped... Dell Precision 5000 Series (5810) Processor: Intel Xeon Quad Core (E5-1603 v3) 2.80 GHz Memory: 8 GB Hard Drive: 500 GB OS: Windows 8.1 Professional Chassis: Tower

I haven't yet been able to find an answer... Is external storage OK with Blue Iris? Like SSD internally for OS and 1 or 2 purple drive externally for the video? This seems basic, but I haven't found an answer yet in my googling...

Thanks guys! Sorry, I knew better... Should have added cameras... I have qty5 2MP (starlight) and qty3 3MP (K-series) - all Dahua. Might add a couple more 2MP starlights sometime in the future... Maybe???

Been trying to research. It seems the processor on this is "OK". Replacing a broken Dahua NVR. Would add an SSD, 4GB memory, 2nd ethernet card, Win10, and 2 purple drives (if they fit - already have 1). Price shipped is just $140. Dell OptiPlex 7010 (dell refurbished gradeA) Processor: Intel...
