Hi Everyone,

I am really desperate. I had to replace Hikvision DS-7716NI-I4-16P which failed - I decided to choose Hikvision DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/S. I can't get cameras to connect. I'm getting "Network disconnected" error and no view / connection.
LAN network settings look good, it's my 192.168.17.x network and for the cameras it's the default 192.168.254.x
Cameras are Hikvision DS-2CD214. Is it possible that cameras aren't compatible? I tried both HIKVISION protocol and ONVIF, nothing helps.

What I tried so far (nothing helped):
  • factory reset of NVR
  • factory reset of camera (I experiment with one, brand new, bought as a spare, but ones installed behave the same way)
  • various network configurations: different network masks, IP ranges - random actions but really I tried everything
  • connecting laptop to NVR port #2 to try to connect to the camera
  • using 12345 password for the camera
  • using straight and cross LAN cables

Looks like there's networking problem, tests fail, setting IP fails. I have Wansview camera on wifi in the 192.168.17.x network and this one is visible on "online devices" list! (ONVIF) but I can't even add it, as my list of devices has 16 items and I can't delete anything from that list (why?).

I will really appreciate any suggestions.... Thank you

Suggestion - with the caveat that I've not seen the web GUI of the -NXI series of NVRs, so you may have to search for the right part of the menu :

Assumptions - you've set the new NVR admin password to be the same as the old one, and you know the admin password for the cameras, will be either the same as that for the NVR, or originally set using the 'use this password for the cameras' option in the NVR web GUI.

In the NVR web GUI, System | Camera Management, make a note of the IP addresses that the NVR expects to find the cameras at, for each channel.
Connect the PC to an unused NVR PoE port, and start SADP. No need for a crossover cable.
SADP will find all the camera, and the NVR, and there is no need to change the PC IP address to do so.
Now you need to figure out which camera is attached to which NVR PoE port so you can change the camera IP address to be what the NVR is expecting on that channel.
Either just connect one at a time, or disconnect one and refresh SADP to see which goes missing.
Then, having associated a specific camera with a specific NVR PoE port, select the camera with SADP and change the camera IP address to match the IP address for the channel it's plugged in to, from your initial list taken from the NVR.
Repeat for all cameras.
I hope that makes sense.

Hello,
Thanks! The addressing was the problem, but also cams not recognizing the password. What solved the problem - resetting cameras to default and manually setting them the correct IP. Thanks for your help!
