  • Emergency HELP!!!!
Hi Everyone. My neighbors and I are experiencing an increased amount of thefts in what was once a quiet neighborhood. My truck was stolen and recovered within 2 weeks. Then 3 months later, my wife accidentally leaves her car unlocked in our driveway and thieves struck again. My HOA refuses to act so its up to us. After my truck was stolen I purchased a basic RING 1080p camera. The video that I am attaching is a real deal video. The RING was not as good as I had hoped. Considering the same situation as in the video, are there any cameras that would work good enough to enable us to have been able to capture the license plate of the getaway car in the video? Report with the police was filed, but you know how that goes. I'd rather a less noticeable camera (s) in hopes the next time they come around myself and a few of my vet buddies can take matters into our own hands and track these guys down. I was thinking one on each side of my house pointing at the road in toward eachother in order to capture a plate from either direction. I may even use openalpr. I am not looking to spend thousands of dollars, but not looking to use cheapo cameras either. Fire away with any questions. LINK: thieves 1/28 2:47am

    Welcome @ltblazer2001

Consumer wifi cloud dependent cameras are not as good as the vendors claim.

Ring in particular is now primarily designed to help Amazon secure the end of it's supply chain ( i.e. the package drop ).

Do take some time to post that image capture in one of the Ring threads, or another thread ( example: Camera Captures ). Most members prefer to see a link to youtube or the like.

Also feel free to post in the new members intro area.

This way folks can see the issues you are dealing with better, and possibly help more than just posting on your profile.
