    Progressive Liberal Hypocrisy

They might be. Depends on the metric. If it's about crime per capita, I totally agree. Woke cities do appear to be better. Here are the top 10: Mobile, Anchorage, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale (AZ), Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tucson, Anaheim (CA, finally a Blue!). Red cities own 9 of the top...

    Progressive Liberal Hypocrisy

So to make sure I understand you. You don't want our service members overseas to vote? The US citizens who are disabled, elderly, support the US in foreign countries, to vote? Or did all of a sudden voting by mail magically become insecure when it's been used for decades without issues? I...

    Progressive Liberal Hypocrisy

Lol. Come on, at least be honest. This entire thread is nothing but triggered right-wingers upset because they lost the election and really have nothing solid to complain about right now other than anything to do with treating others with dignity and respect. We get it, it's painful to be...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

The VERY last thing China wants is to have the world think they need help from the US or anyone else. The State Is Everything over there. This is unfortunate as what China does (or doesn't do) is going to affect the rest of the world and already is. China may be a manufacturing and technology...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

That's exactly my point. You don't have to be a "registered" MD or "medical virologist" to understand how these things work. Credentials in a field come from knowledge. That knowledge is generally available to anyone nowadays and it doesn't take a degree to take the time to understand how...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Sensationalization, spin, whatever (as you noted) has dick to do with how viruses work. Anyone who makes absurd statements like "SouthernYankee" that equate the seriousness of a virus outbreak with the belief that news media is not to be trusted... well I've already made my thoughts on that...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Spoken like someone who doesn't understand how viruses spread or general statistics. Do you think the flu started simultaneously with everyone infected at once? It didn't it started just like the coronavirus. Does this mean we should panic? of course not. That doesn't change the fact that...

Yes but they don't acknowledge the fact.

    New 3MP Wifi Video Doorbell!

You can correct for the curvature and the image quality, to my novice eye, is great. Much better than any of the "mainstream" cameras. I am very happy with the purchase so far. It has a neat feature where it "beeps" when someone approaches which causes the person to look into the camera...

    New 3MP Wifi Video Doorbell!

I need to know how to change the password and if changing the password will cause a problem with the EZVIZ application. I certainly don't want "whoever" to have the password to my camera which is essentially what is happening if it cannot be changed. Also, the device will not accept a new IP...

    New 3MP Wifi Video Doorbell!

I wish the camera had more features as well (meaning more in line with the other Hikvision cams) but in reality it is fairly feature complete. Enough for my uses. I think the reasoning is that this was intended as a consumer cam AND Hikvision doesn't even acknowledge that they manufacture...

    New 3MP Wifi Video Doorbell!

I ignored the activation as well. Mainly because I'm not sure what changing the password would do to the Ezviz app. That said everything works fine without having done that. At first I thought you were saying the camera wasn't working on your network and now I realize it's just not...

    New 3MP Wifi Video Doorbell!

Ok got it up and running in Blue Iris. Just the main stream as I need to get the new firmware tomorrow (from Nelly's) to add in the substream. Really happy with the doorbell. Video quality seems excellent in both day and night and the PIR and alerting in the Ezviz app works well. So far...

    New 3MP Wifi Video Doorbell!

Just received mine a bit ago and got installed and up and running. Well, within the Ezviz app so far. Trying to figure out how to directly configure the camera (after activating using Ezviz) and so far... not having any luck. SADP found the camera but I cannot figure out what the default...

    New 3MP Wifi Video Doorbell!

Just ordered one of these today. Will see how it works when it arrives on Wednesday. Just an fyi for those wondering. I had a conversation with Nelly's today and was told that the substream issue with ONVIF has been fixed in firmware. I'll confirm on Wed/Thu once I get it installed.

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

I can check... are you having issues with memory leaks on 9th gen? Is that why you are asking?

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

I've had a 9th gen running for a few weeks with zero memory leak issues. HW enabled.

    Quick pre-purchase question on CPUs

I ended up going with a 9700k in this build for a couple reasons. I decided to have this box double as an HTPC and living room gaming PC. Certainly an overkill CPU for an NVR. Ultimately I'll source a less power hungry system for the NVR after I'm all settled into the new home and other...

    Quick pre-purchase question on CPUs

I understand the cost/performance stuff very well. My main question was specifically related to the impact of hyperthreading on BI performance and nothing else. I have an extra system that does not have a CPU hence my question. To reiterate, maybe more simply, would an 8th gen with...

    Quick pre-purchase question on CPUs

Well, my main question was about hyperthreading. The 9th gen processors no longer have hyperthreading, Intel dropped the feature. So I'm trying to decide if that will impact performance significantly or not, all other things being equal. I'd also prefer to not go with a 9700k which is north...

    Quick pre-purchase question on CPUs

So, I'm building a small micro-atk NVR system for Blue-iris and wanted to get feedback on processors, specifically the importance of hyper-threading. Ultimately I will have about 12 cameras. I'm currently looking at either an i5 9600k but I'm concerned about the loss of hyperthreading and...

Frequent shutdowns and BSOD's on usually great PC

There ya go. Great that you figured it out. When we originally discussed testing the modules I don't remember how you said you tested but in any case it's good you found it. Not sure what you mean by a kill-o-watt meter but I'm a device for testing load? A PC shouldn't draw that much power...

Frequent shutdowns and BSOD's on usually great PC

You might even look into some of the systems that Fenderman has mentioned in other threads if you are not against buying some from Ebay. You can find some amazing deals.

Frequent shutdowns and BSOD's on usually great PC

Well both of the other systems were older and problem "well used" so it's not surprising they were BSODing if heat was the issue. I dont' remember if you said you measured CPU load and temps when I brought up checking that early on in the thread.... but if you are running 60-90% with just 6...

Frequent shutdowns and BSOD's on usually great PC

The problem with stress tests is that they don't necessarily stress all portions of the system. For example if you are using Intel Hardware Acceleration which used the GPU cores of the processor which is not something typical CPU stress tests use.

Frequent shutdowns and BSOD's on usually great PC

Agree with Bob, as has been mentioned before, you should watch temps during load. Also the question on cameras is important as maybe you could be running the system at a very high load and eventually it's overheating and causing the BSOD. What are the CPU loads and temps under normal/full...

Frequent shutdowns and BSOD's on usually great PC

So the "new" (older) PC is completely fresh from a software perspective and hardware perspective? You didn't move over the BI data drive from the defective system to it? Just to be sure.

Frequent shutdowns and BSOD's on usually great PC

Not obvious in this case as it's a different PC. Heat could still be an issue, even on the second pc, but certainly it's not the obvious culprit unless that PC also has thermal issues that weren't present before. Hence the question about the HDD and if it was moved from the first PC to the...

On a more serious note... are you using the same HDD in the second system?
