I am trying to repurpose some spare server parts I have into a dedicated BI server for 12 Hivision 4k cameras. I want to run it by everyone here to get some feedbacks on if this is feasible.

Intel Core i3-4330T
Asrock E3C226D2I
16GB DDR3 1600 ECC Unbuffered
Intel S3500 80GB SSD
IBM ServeRAID M5015 Controller
8x 2TB Hitachi 7200RPM in RAID6
Supermicro SC825TQ w/ 740W PSU
12x Hikvision DS-2CD2185FWD-I

The CPU is probably a bit underpowered for this setup but I don't know how much. Since this is a dedicated server, CPU usage can be high as long as it doesn't degrade BI responsiveness. I am not looking to enable H265 since that will require getting a lot of new parts for hardware support. AFAIK I can enable the iGPU and provide H264 acceleration while still have IPMI from the motherboard for remote management needs.

at least...even then you will be pushing it...also if you intend to use h.265 - hardware decoding is not working for 265 in BI and it wont work ever in the 4th gen - you will need 6+

I understand, which is why I mentioned I'm not planning to use H265. I just need to know what CPU will meet the processing needs.

No.. unless you reduce frame rates significantly and or don't use remote viewing capabilities which will allow you to select limit decoding.... Keeping the console close will also help..
