What do you think what camera will be better for the night time
IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+ or IPC-HFW2831TP-ZAS-S2 ?
IPC-T5442TM-AS is starlight + but HFW2831TP is just starlight but it is 8k?
One way to quickly (but roughly) compare how well cameras are likely to perform in low-light situations (i.e. night time) is to compare their minimum illumination specs. The lower the lux rating, the better the camera is likely to do.
.002 lux =
5442
.008 lux =
2831 S2
As you can see, there's a notable difference which is probably why Dahua markets the 5442 as Starlight+ while the 2831 is "only" Starlight.
IMO, minimum illumination specs from manufacturers are always suspect, so it's always best to do what you did and find owner reviews of the models and read as much as you can (and view as many sample videos as you can).
Also remember that how much light you have around your area at night will influence how well the camera does. If you're out in the country where it's extremely dark at night, a 2831 will probably not work well. Even a 5442 may be a challenge. But if you're in a neighborhood and near street lights (or have lights around the exterior of your house that are always on at night), a 2831 may work well at night.
