I started out using the 3200 series NVR's, but as I add more cameras, more MP's and prefer a higher bit rate for a better picture, I have been using the 5200 series NVR. I believe the max bit rate on the 3200 is 32Mbbps and the 5200 is 160mbps and the new 7200 series is 256Mbps. Thats total amount with all cameras added up. I just thought I'd share this info in case someone was interested in a Dahua NVR and wanted to know the differences.

Yeah the 160Mbps limit has been very nice since released. They have also changed to support 5MP camera(s). Unfortunately I haven't gotten my paws on a 5mp yet but according to Dahua Specs it's possible as long as the bitrate isn't exceeded. Also, with the right firmware (on the 5200 Series), I have seen excellent motion detection recording when connected via ONVIF using Hikvision cameras paired with the 5200 NVRs.

That's all I've been using lately, the 5200's. The price is so reasonable, I only purchase the 16 channel no matter how many channels my customers want. I feel that it gives them incentive to purchase more cameras in the future and it also shows them that I'm not going to pull the old scam that if they want more cameras they will need to upgrade their recorder. They have a new firmware out for the 5200 which is similar to an IP camera interface. It's pretty nice.

Finally! Web Version 2.x.x looked like windows 95 and wasn't very streamlined. What version and build date is that firmware you have Vector?

I'll find out exactly the version later when I get home but if I recall the build date was something like 1-2014

I have a 2mp 30x ptz, a 2mp 3x ptz, a 2mp 12x ptz, 1 3mp bullet, and 2 1.3mp 4100 bullets all Dahua. I can send you the firmware through drop box if you want. What is your email?

Ryan, I sent you a PM. Let me know if you can't download it. Do you have the config tool to upgrade the firmware on the NVR?

What's up with this 7200 series? First I've heard of it. Available yet? I can't find it at dahua to read about.

Shock, I ordered one just to try it out. It has a 256mbps max bit rate and the 5200 has 160 I believe. My connection did not explain that great, but none the less, the 7200 is less expensive than the 5200! They told me it's newer technology so it costs less?? I should be getting my 7216 in a couple of weeks though.

According to the specs on the Dahua website, 7200 series records 1080P max while 5200 series records up to 5MP.

I have ordered from Empire on the past, but when I had one issue, they seemed to have a bad attitude and they spam me with all their sales and specials constantly which tells me
that they are desperate for sales. These days, I order direct from China from the same distributor or from a local store close to my house.
