I installed a 64GB microSD card and set Disk Full to Overwrite in Record Control. A few months later I was unable to log into the camera. When I rebooted the camera it went into a bootloop. I had to remove the SD card for the camera to boot. The card was full and the last recording was weeks ago.

Anyone ran into this before? I thought Hikvision had buggy firmware but Dahua seems to be even worse

Are you using this cam in stand-alone mode eg not connected to an NVR with or without POE adapter or standalone power supply?

My suggestion: open it up, press the factory reset switch for 5 seconds, and let it boot up properly. You have to (re)configure some stuff, but when you have set everything, take a backup of the settings for later reference. If you haven't "messed" with firmware updates, a factory reset is your next best thing.

Good luck!

Thanks. Yes the cam is in standalone mode.

I got it to boot without SD card and then formatted SD card using the camera. So far it looks ok. My concern is if SD overwrite is broken, the camera is going to need some manual intervention every so often.

Perform a "physical" examination on the SD card first: look for corrosion/rust - it might be that after a couple of months you'll see the first symptoms if the cam wasn't that water-tight.
It might also be software related (not sure about the HDW58xx, but you can try the "auto-reboot" feature to reboot it every (eg) Sunday night at 2).
Lastly, if you have a spare SD card at hand, try with that.

Good luck!

Use a PC to test the SD card. Use the program H2TESTW. It will take a while but it is worth knowing that the cad is good. There are a lot of fake SD cards around even ones that have a brand name.

Dahua camera is just a piece of garbage that doesn't have usable SD recording feature. It has nothing to do with SD card

I have about 18 Dahua cameras and six recording to SD card to record motion events only. Eventually all cards stop recording, and are not even showing up. All cards have been tested and the only way I have found to get them working again is to get out the bucket truck, go to each pole camera location and remove the cards, format in PC, then reinsert into the camera. I use all SanDisk extreme cards. If anyone knows of a tested better brand card to use, please share. Even though I own bucket trucks to get this done, it's still a huge pain. Thank you for your suggestions!

I've been using the Samsung PRO Endurance 128GB in 6 cameras, recording 24x7 for just under a year with no problems. There were issues with the initial firmware but about 6-9 months ago the firmware updates solved everything for me. If you're current on Andy's firmware, then try one of the "endurance" line of cards (SanDisk also makes one but I only recently tried one of those so can't yet speak to it vs. the Samsung ones).

Where did you purchase your cameras ?
Andy is a forum member that sells dahua and some Hikvision cameras. When firmware is available he post it on the forum for specific cameras.
If your cameras are hacked chinese cameras. Most of these cameras are not international versions, so they may not be upgradable.
