Hi,

Is there a calculator flying about as to how much storage I would require or how much of a recording I can retain before being over written?

I will be running 6 cameras (5 up already) on 1080p and currently set on 25FPS. I have ordered a 4TB hard drive which will be delivered in the next few days.

Anyone know whether the NVR has a feature which tells how many days the data will be retained before being over written?

I am looking to record 24/7.

Thanks

Each manufacturer has their own calculator and requirements for HDD, so it's not completely universal. How ever a good estimate can be gotten from pretty much any calculator, first result from google for "storage calculator cctv" was http://www.stardot.com/bandwidth-and-storage-calculator

According to this calculator, you would need ~4.5TB for a week if you record 24/7 1080P 25fps at highest quality.

Storage is simply a calculation of the bitrate - nothing else..if you increase fps and resolution you will need a higher bitrate to get a good image...
...if its a variable bit rate then you cannot come to a precise conclusion..

You will see that when you change fps, it adjust the bitrate, but if you keep the bitrate the same the storage requirement will be the same.
