VPN Problems via ASUS Router

I'm about at my wits end with this issue. I have setup OpenVPN on my ASUS AC68U. I can connect successfully from my phone on the cell network and am able access the router from outside my LAN and if I go to whatsmyip.org it shows my home IP address. I've checked a thousand times and all my settings are correct but I still cannot access any of my devices on the LAN other than the router. I currently have my POE switch and one camera connected for testing and I cannot access either. I've spent the last several hours on Google looking for a solution and can't seem to find an answer. I thought maybe I was crazy and had done something wrong so I started from scratch and followed Randy : OpenVPN on a Asus router posted by randytsuch and I'm still having the same issue. After typing in the IP address of the device I'm trying to reach the page never loads. On Chrome it reads:

Your connection was interrupted

A network change was detected.

ERR_NETOWRK_CHANGED

Firefox just states the connection timed out. :angry:

Are you using Chrome?
 
Hmm, have a look at this and see if it resembles your issues
 
Yup, figured that, it was more that it was pointing to a possible DNS issue, so maybe have a look at what settings they have for the dns under the vpn section, and I will have another look at the vid you suggested to see if it makes sense to me

The two DNS option are: Respond to DNS and Advertise DNS to clients. Both are checked yes.
 
OK, how are you trying to reach your devices? I found this little snippet
10) Use the tunnel
At this point, you are up and running! Remember that network browsing isn't supported. So you must reach LAN devices by IP address, not hostnames. If you're just accessing shared files, mapped drives are your friend.

Trying via IP addresses.
 
I am using a Netgear R7000 router that has OpenVPN as a feature. Each time I make a change to the configuration on the router I have to save the changes and generate a new configuration file for the client machine. On Android I have to import the new configuration file into the Android client and on Windows I have to copy the new configuration file into the proper directory.

Also make sure your router configuration shows the clients will use this VPN connection to access all sites on the Internet & Home Network.

For advanced settings I use:

TUN Mode Service Type UDP
TUN Mode Service Port 12973
TAP Mode Service Type UDP
TAP Mode Service Port 12974
 
Here are screenshots of my settings. Make sure you download and import the configuration file.
EDIT: Just noticed that I forgot to change encryption to 256 bit on this router.

Tried with these setting as well and I'm having the same problem.

any chance the network you are connecting from shares the same private network subnet as the lan you are attempting to connect to?

Nope. VPN is set at default 10.8.0.0. Network is 192.168.x.x.

right but the network you are connecting FROM like before you establish connection is what range?
