Has anyone ever tried a "TVI to IP Camera converter"?

These are all good points, and I appreciate learning more about this stuff, thanks to everyone who replied. This has been a great discussion regarding the options that are available for reviving old gear. My key takeaway: Is it good we know we can use a certain solution if necessary...

Has anyone ever tried a "TVI to IP Camera converter"?

That sounds pretty awesome, got fkn RG59 cables going all over the place, ran most of them within the last decade so feels like just yesterday :wtf: Edit: Looked into the cost of full solution, and appears to be cost-prohibitive, but thanks for weighing in with more ideas/possibilities

Has anyone ever tried a "TVI to IP Camera converter"?

Oh OK, I'm loving this: I hadn't even considered RTSP because I haven't worked with it in any meaningful way. Not sure why ONVIF from the Hikvision DVR would only provide 4 or 8 channels if this is the case, but there's nothing wrong with setting up each channel individually if it means not...

Has anyone ever tried a "TVI to IP Camera converter"?

Yeah, the number of channels out from each DVR is exactly the concern I have using DVRs to convert HD-TVI, but since you have hands-on experience, you're giving me exactly what I was hoping to learn. I really appreciate you helping me If I'm hearing you correctly, some DVRs have a single...

Has anyone ever tried a "TVI to IP Camera converter"?

Yeah, thanks for the info - how do you like using your DVRs as IP cameras vs. the converter? Those are exactly the two solutions I am comparing. We have 32 cameras at a restaurant we're slowly moving away from, but we need to be able to do it over time because of how much new wiring it will...

Has anyone ever tried a "TVI to IP Camera converter"?

Hey, I came across these on ebay looking for a solution for using existing HD-TVI/BNC cameras on an NVR: 1 Channel Video Server 1080P HD (CVI/TVI/AHD) to IP Camera Converter CCTV | eBay Anyone ever used one before (or even heard of such a thing)? I know "regular" BNC to RJ45 baluns do NOT...

    Which Hik dome for ZoneMinder?

ZoneMinder will take anything you can throw at it that's supported via Linux Kernel or extended kernel modules (.ko files). In practical terms, that's going to mean ONVIF, RTSP or V4L (webcams, iphones, etc.) It's quite versatile. If a video device is supported by Linux, it typically shows up...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-Color4K-X / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

I have not replaced firmware in any of ours and they seem to be doing well. Andy will usually post on the board here if he releases something new approved for their cameras if you bought it through him. Latest is not always best for IP cams unlike some other devices.

Dahua firmware update works on all but 1 camera - stuck at uploading

I wanted to update this thread so it wasn't left loose / hanging: I managed to upgrade the firmware to the same .bin the other two used after the camera was moved to another location and connected with another cable. My belief is the cable may have become damaged during the pull - the guys who...

<strike>Pendant</strike> Mount new Color-4K-X on an arm clamped to a pole?

Cool, yeah I've used the recommended mounting HW from the reviews for several T5442TM-AS and the HFW1831Es, was a perfect fit. I guess the disconnect came from initially wanting to pendant mount a bullet cam (didn't realize how weird that was at first) and now just over-thinking the arm thing...

<strike>Pendant</strike> Mount new Color-4K-X on an arm clamped to a pole?

That's a good idea, actually. I work there with a partner and he knows a lot more about that stuff than I do, we drilled on another camera about 30 ft up. These ones we want to put closer to sidewalk level so we can get people's faces. Just high enough some Andre the giant tweaker can't reach...

Who loves their tester? This one's bad af:

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about What's up with "fluke" testing, anyway, is that really a thing? Can I trust cable mfgs when they say they did it, or is that horse shit? It's only true when it's CCA, right?

Who loves their tester? This one's bad af:

I might be a little OCD, but I make sure all my cables are labelled on each end with a labeller AND sharpie before they go through the run, straighten them as much as possible and I'll color-code them if I have different colored jackets, too Those testers sure look fancy but I like how mine is...

Hey, Just got through running some wire with a friend, and wanted to mention this tester I got that I absolutely love: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K8VWHZT It's my first one, so I didn't have anything to compare it to, until I tried my friend's today and man does it suck by...

<strike>Pendant</strike> Mount new Color-4K-X on an arm clamped to a pole?

Hey, My friend just bought 5 of the new Color4K-X-LEDs from Andy and we were wanting to mount either one or two on a really hefty 35-ft steel pole he has for the sign for his drive-through restaurant The 4K-X cameras look something like this: Info about these cameras: Worlds First Review -...
