    My AP is a few rooms and walls away with hardiplank siding and a refridgerator in between, and it doesn't miss a beat. Maybe try another AP; the chipsets might not like eachother.

    Yes. If you turn off alerts in the app, it still records motion events to the SD card. And it still push notifies the app when the doorbell button is pushed. My only gripe so far, is that when someone rings the doorbell, it doesn't record it to the sd card.... and it seems to corrupt or delete...

    Same. The button push only alerts the person who has the camera registered to their app. Not the guests.
