New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Not really, I was one of the original upgraders so it's been a while and I had an original RCA unit. I went from RCA firmware to EZVIZ (turned off the logo), then LaView, then using the Hik versions since. I just used the batch tool each time to upgrade.

I've been using this firmware for several months on my RCA. Seems pretty stable but it unfortunately removes the snapshot url.

I have mine setup via ONVIF with the Hikvision firmware. Audio works fine in SS that way.

I run pfSense as well but didn't go with the Netgate hardware. I run a fitlet2, which has more horsepower and you can run extra RAM and an M2 drive. https://fit-iot.com/web/products/fitlet2/

Everything you mentioned is normal. The model number doesn't change when you change firmware. SS would keep working as ONVIF is just a way for SS to find out the camera capabilities, which were saved. Once you Disable/Enable it could no longer probe the non-ONVIF camera so it failed.

Just load the LaView firmware on it to get ONVIF.

Not sure what you mean by HDR mode, I haven't seen that. The SS resolution has nothing to do with the app setting. You set the resolution in the SS Stream Profiles and then choose the appropriate profile when viewing in SS or DSCam.

Currently it's a DS918+. If all you're doing is NVR then I'd probably stick with BI. I use the Synology for storage/backup and run about 20 dockers/containers on it for a bunch of other tasks, so it was a no brainer for me to use it for the cameras. Yea, $50-75.

Oh sorry I was cryptic there. I have a Home Automation system (ISY-994i). Synology's Surveillence Station sets a variable in the ISY for each motion event on each camera in the house. From there I can do whatever (notifications, pop the video up on Kodi, etc.)

Love the Synology. I've had 4 and have purchased about 10 for friends. The licenses for SS are very expensive I admit, it's a little stupid. I run about 20 different containers on the Synology so I use it for just about everything such as Pi-Hole, DLNA Server, Home Assistant, etc. Current...

I have no options for motion detection either in the Batch Tool (all grey). But for some reason it still works. I did setup the Alarm Notification in the Android App originally (but have since disabled it), maybe that enabled something internally.

I had similar issues using iVMS. Switched to Hik's Batch Config Tool instead which is lighter weight and more reliable.

I'm using my Synology with generic ONVIF for the camera and get motion events. This was my main reason for going ONVIF, before that I was using the RTSP stream and had to perform motion detection on the Synology which forced the camera to constantly stream.

Yea, I did as David L said. Loaded EZVIZ first, unchecked the logo option, then loaded LaView
