A faster minimum shutter speed to capture faster moving subjects. If i use 1/25 (PAL region) at night i will struggle to capture decent moving footage even if it produces a much better lit picture.
As an example :
Away at the moment but off the top of my head.
H265 (not +)
Max normal bit rate 8192
Max event bit rate 16384
Exposure : 1/150
i-frame : 10
Contrast : 40
Brightness : 45
Saturation : 55
WDR : 10
NR : 50
That's all i can remember but they stick out as the ones i kept tweaking to balance overall...
You need to expand on what you're expecting.
Apart from the above noted use of .265 vs .264 it would be interesting to see the settings of your image quality and exposure. I've 2 x HIK 4k cameras and both are stellar during the day and acceptable at night.
I took the lid off mine permanently because the fans themselves aren't that noisy. The lid being on the unit causes the noise levels to increase due to the confined space i would guess.
Try a lid on and off and compare.
Updated my UK sourced 7608NI-I2 tonight with the new FW. 6 cameras from Aliexpress 1 x 4k, 5 x 3mp and 2 non-hik generic 1080p IP cameras.
So far so good however two points of note;
When i flashed the FW on the reboot my WD purple drive went offline and said repairing on the restart...
Yeah sorry i should have been clearer, my downgrade attempts i've tried various solutions and just couldn't get it to work.
I've gone back to the original Aliexpress seller and asked if they can offer a possible firmware upgrade route retaining the English menus.
Once again though many thanks...
My thanks to @alastairstevenson, much appreciated!
Managed to update 3 x 2CD3332's (CH serial / 2014) up to 5.4.5. Unable to downgrade 2 x 2CD3335 (5.3.6 & 5.3.8) to 5.2.5 but i've tested using @bp2008 password tool and they don't appear to be vulnerable.
