Thanks guys. I went with the VN248Q-P . I think it will serve my needs pretty well and be clear enough to make me happy. I keep telling myself I probably wont even use the monitor - just view on my phone- but something tells me this is incorrect! Especially if I am home and something gets...

    Mail theft gang

Thanks,...instead of spending the past 2 hours learning about IP cameras,...I spent the last 2 hours watching prank videos on Youtube. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Just curious looney2ns,....why? (I did realize it was the same you recommended earlier,...but I didn't realize it until after I changed the size for budget reasons!) But they seem almost identical but door #2 a bit cheaper and has that DVI port. Definitely Not trying to over analyze monitors...

Hello Everyone, new member from New York

I am beyond a beginner due to my lack of any camera or networking knowledge, but I bought this PoE switch. I believe it is a managed switch. Unmanaged switches are apparently "easier" to deal with,...but I was told managed is the same thing if you don't try to play with the added features...

I have heard that as long as I go with a 1080p monitor or TV I am pretty much good to go. Even had some decent monitors recommended but I'd like to keep the $ down as much as possible since it will mainly be used for setup,... although who knows I may enjoy looking back at triggers etc on...

NVR that doesn't suck compared to BI

Dahua nvr was a bad decision

I do remember you saying that fenderman,..and trust me I believe you 100%. But I just bought the NVR to plug some cable in and concentrate more on learning the basics. I doubt I'll even use every feature on the NVR by the time I decide to go BI (Probably this time next year!)

NVR that doesn't suck compared to BI

After paying $265 for the NVR and $240 for 2 HDD's I'd have to agree it is more cost effective to go BI. I am sure I will eventually regret going the NVR route,...but for now I think I can live without all the extra benefits of BI. More optionsisn't really an option for me with my limited (lack...

Dahua nvr was a bad decision

Too late now Philip! Just placed my order with Andy. But mat200 still liking his NVR gives me some relief! I know both BI and NVR will take some time to learn,...and granted I don't know one end from the other,...but BI just intimidated me!. Plus I was in no mood to research PC's and take the...

    Considering Dahua

Absolutely! Ill just run a looooong cat6 from my upstairs down to the garage to the switch then hook the cameras up to the switch. It's a possibility I'll have some cables fished through the walls by then but I wont drill holes until I am positive of the placement. With day/night and different...
