New G5 firmware just released.. IPC_G5_EN_STD_5.7.1_211009.zip
Upgraded one of my cameras without issue, no noticeable interface changes from previous V5.5.801 may just be bugfixes
I haven't heard of anyone losing features when changing firmware since it is dependent on the cameras capabilities not the firmware. (at least that I have seen)
Just to be sure though what firmware and revision are they on? If you can post a screenshot of the info page that might be able to help.
So I just upgraded my I91BM to V5.5.801 and it still requires the plugin.. can you confirm with a screenshot of your basic info page? Is it possible you have the plugin and just don't know it?
That would be nice if that does remove it.. This would be the first firmware to remove it so hoping if it does that they do this for the rest. I know there was a huge vulnerability recently exposed to them in previous firmware so hopefully this solves it.
I can say that the earlier version of the firmware did not remove the need for the plugin because I have the same camera with the firmware V5.5.111 which is the last one right before V5.5.800 and it still requires the plugin. You can clearly see that in the image.
All of them require a plugin regardless of firmware to view the livestream from the web interface. I find it better to use a standalone program for that though. Blue-iris is a popular one. You can also use vlc but it takes a little bit to get it all setup and can only view one stream per windows...
Sorry but upgrading firmware will not alter the capabilities of a camera. The capabilities are stored in a separate file from the firmware and the only way to modify that file is through SSH (not the limited ssh shell on recent firmware) or by de-soldering the flash chip and using a custom board...
So you did try to enable ssh on the E7S via the SDK and reboot the camera but it didn't work? Was that before or after upgrading to Hikvision firmware?
No, I have not messed with SSH on them since then pretty much hit a dead end. Of course I don't have as much linux experience so it could still...
Sort of.. internally they are for the most part and the firmware is just rebranded and modified Hikvision firmware that is usually several versions behind. The chipset and in some cases the PCB are made by Hikvision (possibly entire camera on some??)
So they are all based on https://www.guardingvision.com/ which I am sure is just part of hikvision and has its own app.. This is what I use and worked better than Annke and Hikvisions remote software at the time. Even after converting to Hikvision I was able to connect using either remote app...
Thanks ill add that to the notes for those models that "should" be able to upgrade from web interface without SDK..
Also another users noted that the I81HC wouldn't upgrade so my best guess is its a special one-off that doesn't have Hikvision firmware support..or at least yet.
For anybody wanting to try to modify the source code of the cameras (linux based) this guy did it with a reolink which should be very similar Hacking Reolink cameras for fun and profit
