And I get that, but its proven and technically fact that fixed lens of a same series camera has better minimum illumination specs than a variable focus.     i see. it does make sense to want to to be able to identify a person coming for the entrance farther vs a 2.8mm. thanks, i'll add that to my test scenario (3.6mm vs 2.8mm for gates).

    i got both 2.8 right next to the gates. i was 50-50 on going with variable focus instead of the 3.6mm since both 3.6mm in the diagrams are meant to cover the distance. those 2x 3.6mm are those closest to the tree.

    finally got some free time to play with this camera, read the manual that came in the box and it has a static ip configured. i don't have that subnet internally but it's used by the isp modem/router, no problem there. problem is that router doesn't have a poe port and i haven't got a spare poe...

    i got frigate running cpai for detector. cpai uses yolov8 and is pretty accurate. i had it working on v0.14 and now am on v0.15rc still works well. i am using tensorrt for both btw so they are quite fast and accurate in my experience. this is the section you'll need to configure on frigate...
