    Ethernet in PVC conduit

Building a new house, having the contractor run glued PVC pipes from a wiring closet out to every camera location (and a backup NVR in the detached garage). Most of the wiring will be inside the attic, just a couple of runs going a few meters underground. I plan to use indoor cat5e. I hope...

    adding 1-way audio

Thank you Andy for your quick reply. That is good news.

    adding 1-way audio

I'm thinking of adding another cheap 5MP ONVIF camera to my hodgepodge system but this time I'd like to get one with a built-in mic and audio board. I'm not expecting good sound quality, just something good enough to indicate that there are people present in a certain restricted area. My...

    linking two NVRs via Ethernet

That's a fresh idea. Hearing it made me review my reasons for having NVRs in two locations. Also made me review why not just have a single NVR? Definitely, merging these two little standalone systems would make them simpler and solve the technical issues but there would be a list of...

    linking two NVRs via Ethernet

Thx for the reply, though I'm sorry to hear it confirmed. If all I can get is live view then I won't go ahead with the idea.

    linking two NVRs via Ethernet

Sorry for the naive question. I have two small systems where the POE switches are about 70 meters apart. It would be really helpful if I could view the cameras (live & playback) on NVR 2 from NVR 1. I know that if I added a PC to the LAN then I could do everything I want with CMS, but that...

using Blue Iris to play back from hardware NVR on the same LAN

My Dahua NVR had a perfect mouse wheel zoom feature (big Plus). It did not support manual snapshots in Playback mode (big Minus). Then, for several reasons, I switched to a generic ONVIF NVR. It doesn't support manual snapshots in live view or in playback. (bigger Minus). And the digital zoom...

using Blue Iris to play back from hardware NVR on the same LAN

I can see that BI is amazingly feature rich, but far beyond my needs. Not to mention that the cameras are all outdoors and there's cats and dogs everywhere. Mainly I don't want to load down my two desktop PC's nor add a third one.

using Blue Iris to play back from hardware NVR on the same LAN

Thank you for the quick reply, though I'm sorry to hear it. BI seems to have a lot to offer but I won't use it to record. Oh well, I'm stuck with CMS to do manual snapshots and mouse wheel zooming. Too bad CMS 3.0.0 still looks like it's written for DOS.

using Blue Iris to play back from hardware NVR on the same LAN

Blue Iris has some features (e.g. mouse wheel zoom) that are missing from my hardware NVR. I have been able to connect Blue Iris to live view each of the cameras via the NVR (not directly via the LAN) but I can't see how to play back the NVR's hard disk files. This was very easy on CMS but on...

Smart PSS - how to save zoom mode

Operator error, I assume : I create a 4-camera view and save it. Exit. Re-start PSS, select that view, and everything has been saved except that each window has reverted to rectangle-select zoom instead of mouse wheel zoom.

    Over decode ability

I too am pushing the limits of my 4108's decode ability, so I went to 9 cam mode on the display and set all 6 of my cameras to stream S1 instead of M. Then I went to 4 cam display, came back to 9 cam and the NVR had switched some (but not all) of the cams back to main stream. Not following any...

Bought a used Dahua NVR4108 - Cannot PW reset the camera's

I have these two cameras for which the written password memo has disappeared. I dunno, maybe the dog ate it. 1 Dahua HFW4431S 4 mp 2 Dahua HFW4431M-I2-V2 4 mp Both of these included the firmware that required a password change during installation. So, it sounds like I need...

NVR 4208 replacement fan for side unit

I used 47 ohms. By running a little slower it helped a bit but the whine doesn't come from the fan, it comes from the air exiting via the louvers cut into the left & right sides of the case. In the end, I just got used to it.
