    SD5A425GA-HNR detects cat ??

If this is happening on the regular firmware with longer distance objects, then the animal tracking software must have the same hunting flaw. It isn't the type of motion. Rapid hunting back and forth occurs even if the animal is practically still. A better motion algorithm would avoid such...

    SD5A425GA-HNR detects cat ??

Where is that setting? I didn't run into that yet. It sure looks like they need more hysteresis in the tracking software. That would damp down the excess hunting. Like you, I'm tracking at increased distance - usually 50 to 100 yards for the animals here.

    SD5A425GA-HNR detects cat ??

EmpireTech PTZ5A4M-25X which is Andy's model of the OP's Dahua SD5A425GA-HNR.

    SD5A425GA-HNR detects cat ??

Andy's special animal tracking firmware is letting my system catch detailed shots that would normally just be a distant blob. However, it has a tendency to excessively hunt back and forth during tracking. That creates what would be a non-presentable video, but thankfully Final Cut Pro does a...

    SD5A425GA-HNR detects cat ??

Add image stabilization in Final Cut Pro and the result is quite nice despite the jerky camera tracking moves.

    SD5A425GA-HNR detects cat ??

Never did it this well before.... More jittery than my manual aiming, but getting actual automated tracking for animals is a step up from the standard firmware. These are a few examples that are getting caught now.

    SD5A425GA-HNR detects cat ??

Animal tracking firmware? I would love to have that on my PTZ5A4M-25X cameras. I only have the General_SD-Taurus_MultiLang_PN_Stream3-Normal_V3.200.0000018.2.R.240617 which does not track animals. The bear video was manually aimed, but getting firmware that also does animals would be wonderful...

    Mr. Bear Digs

Captured on EmpireTech PTZ5A4M-25X about 100 yards away in darkness. Scene is illuminated only by the PTZ's IR lights. Really demonstrates what a good pairing its 4MP resolution is with 1/1.8 sensor. Uploaded video is only 1080P. BTW all the audio is SFX work in Final Cut Pro

Triple Headed, Pole Top, Turret Cam Mount

I use a one in three out splitter. It isn't "outdoor" unit, but it stays dry inside in mount. I do dop all the connections with silicone grease. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVR3C92S

Triple Headed, Pole Top, Turret Cam Mount

Total of nearly 28 hours print time. Here it is atop a pole with three turrets on the newly printed mount. A POE+ splitter within the mount lets one ethernet service all three turrets. Still need to add a brim to newest turret. Three other cameras on the pole are mounted using standard mounting...

Triple Headed, Pole Top, Turret Cam Mount

22 hours done, about 7 more to go. The top portion will be interesting because I'm printing the vaulted ceiling without using supports, unlike the horizontal portions at base that absolutely required supports. The top of the circular opening, I know my printer is tuned well enough to print...

Triple Headed, Pole Top, Turret Cam Mount

A couple hours in Fusion 360 to do the modeling. No AI assist, just CAD modeling. I cheated a bit by basing it off my two camera pole mount. Hardest part was getting all the cuts and intersections to keep the three upper mounts emptied out in their interiors. 13 hours into the print... .

Triple Headed, Pole Top, Turret Cam Mount

I wanted to change the top of one camera pole to have three turret cameras instead of two cameras currently mounted. The prior, two headed mount I printed in black PETG has held up well through several years weather. It's going to take a day and a half to print in PETG. 1/4 of the way through....

PT - New Dahua Camera Category and Models

Getting that currently means at least doubling the camera cost. We were spoiled for a time with good low light capabilities mixed with low cost.
