    4K-X 6mm uneven focus

This morning the Color 4K-X 6mm caught crescent moon rising. Earthlight lit up dark portion of moon enough to be visible on 4K-TX sensor. The entire frame is supplied so one can see 6 mm focus is pretty good for distance and onward to infinity. I agree it would not be good for close objects.

    4K-X 6mm uneven focus

Sometimes it takes three cams to get everything you want in one direction.... One for license plates, one for general street view, Color 4K-X for tight sky view.

IR halo ring issue in a IPC-B52IR-Z12E S2.

Anything within three feet and in forward of camera front plane can bounce back enough IR to create a halo. I've been unpleasantly surprised a few times by nearby objects that I thought would be far enough lateral, but proven to be an issue. Solution was moving camera forward or removing...

    Eagle Nebula on Color 4K-X

It is right at the limit of what the sensor and 6 mm lens can pick up, but the Eagle Nebula shows up as a faint blob in this time lapse. You can see the sensor gain is nearly too high by the presence of fixed hot pixels, but the nebula is obviously a real part of the moving star field. I zoomed...

    4K-X 6mm uneven focus

Ironically, I'd love to have a 10 mm lens for even tighter framing on one of mine.

    Moonrise via Color 4K-X 6mm

My Sky cams are set to manual shutter with 0 to 333 as the range. Frame rate is set to 3 FPS to match the long exposure. Camera automatically drops frame rate encoded when exposure goes long. So setting a baseline low rate avoids my video editor choking on video with variable frame rates. Gain...

    Christmas Sunrise 2024

Two of my "sky cam" Color 4KT's caught these while I was away at work. Didn't realize what a sunrise had occurred until review on Boxing day.

    Natural Gas Generators

Our Kohler 18k developed unstable rpm control after about ten years. Would seek up and down incessantly. Service crew replaced multiple parts and could never resolve issue which seems to be endemic to its design. Replaced with Cummins 18k and that has been a solid performer.

IPC-T54IR-ZE S3 Wall Mounting - Direct or Bracket?

The cable spec looks fine to me. Get more than you think you need. You will eventually need it and cable doesn’t “expire”.

IPC-T54IR-ZE S3 Wall Mounting - Direct or Bracket?

Go for the pull through style plugs. I switched to them and it is SO much easiest to make good terminations than the old style plugs. This set is a good starter. https://www.amazon.com/PETECHTOOL-Crimping-tool-Ethernet-Connectors/dp/B09CG5XYP5? 1. Practice by making some short cables. Don't do...

IPC-T54IR-ZE S3 Wall Mounting - Direct or Bracket?

Trims off jacket and stuffs wires through smaller hole. Smart and dumb at same time.

IPC-T54IR-ZE S3 Wall Mounting - Direct or Bracket?

When I started out with IP cams, I drilled big holes to fit pigtails through. Have learned better since and now always use a junction box so as to need much smaller penetrations. Smaller holes = easier to water tight seal holes.
