    Natural Gas Generators

Another tidbit to tuck in your head is the earthquake valve that should get installed along with the generator. We have one for the house and another for the generator. Post minor tremors, those valves may shut off the gas supply. We had one partially shut after nearby heavy earth mover...

    Natural Gas Generators

If you can place a bit further from house, it will be quieter. Ours is OK, but one of our neighbors had his put about 30 feet away. Cost a bit more for the gas plumbing and electrical, but probably worth considering. Remember, it will run 20 minutes every two weeks to keep itself in good...

    Natural Gas Generators

Nice, liquid cooled. We didn't have space for that size unit.

    Natural Gas Generators

In a 240 volt household feed, there are two 120 volt legs. Thing of them like two batteries in series. Your household 120 circuits are distributed to connect with one leg or the other. 240 volt appliances straddle both legs. Well balanced power systems put about the same average load on each...

    Natural Gas Generators

Never did measure consumption. It would vary with electrical load and we basically go on with our lives when the generators were running. With NG fuel source, there isn't the "when will the fuel run out?" monitoring concern as with a gasoline or LPG generator. Several day long outages no longer...

    Natural Gas Generators

Not many would recognize that unit. I've had to take it apart and replace its caps, but it's still working for the few devices that are still X-10. Most are now Insteon. And yes, both lighting control systems work during Cummins generator power. The Kohler was a bit more troublesome in that it...

    Natural Gas Generators

We've had both Kohler and Cummins NG generators. The Kohler required a higher NG gas pressure and we had to put in a new gas main and regulator to accommodate its needs. That generator was OK for about 8 years, but starts developing their characteristic RPM instability as they age. Service /...

Ubiquity EdgeRouter X - Configuring to Isolate Surveillance Networks

As you explore the EdgeRouter and its rules, it really helps to keep in mind.... All rules are relative to the router. Inbound rules are for packets entering the router. Outbound rules are for packets exiting the router. Local rules are for packets accessing the router's internal services...

Ubiquity EdgeRouter X - Configuring to Isolate Surveillance Networks

I power my Edgerouter via 12 volt plugin. All my POE devices are powered via POE+ switches. Depending on the model of Ubiquity access point, powering via a POE switch may or may not work. Some of them use "passive" POE which is not the kind of POE supplied by switches. See the table UniFi -...

How to create a low humidity environment to put bullet camera back together?

When I did resealing, I put the camera and silica packs into my dehydrator for a few hours. Then reassembled while hot.

Paint my LPR Camera or no?

I used different color spray cans of paint intended for camo. Home depot has them.

    In ground camera placement ideas

It's really not a matter of the lens angle. It's the IR illuminators output cone touching any nearby objects and reflecting back onto the front glass of the camera. That creates halos whenever the IR is on. You can demonstrate this yourself by putting objects within a foot of the camera but just...

    In ground camera placement ideas

Only issue I can think of with the rocks being placed is IR back reflection clouding the image. None of my cameras like anything near their lens unless the object is way off axis. Otherwise, it's halo city when the IR illuminator comes on. I guess you could also go with separate illuminators.

Same form factor as SD1A203T-GN but with better camera?

I replaced one of my SD1A203T-GN with 4MP SD1A404XB-GNR (both from Andy). Definitely a noticeably sharper image in the daytime. Night time performance is a touch less light sensitivity than the 2MP version. It's still a lot better in the dark than a non-starlight, and I can see everything I...
