Just plug it into the LAN port. The only thing that should go into the POE ports are cameras. The NVR has a DHCP server specifically to assign an internal IP address to the POE ports.
I have a few cameras connected to the Hikvision DS7716NI-I4/16P NVR and I wanted to turn the IR lights built into the cameras off. Can this be done somewhere within the NVR? I've looked around and for the life of me I can't find it anywhere! If anyone has any idea please do share! Thanks!
Re: Recommendations for pulling CAT6e wires in an existing home.. DIY or hire someone
I have 4 - 1k ft rolls of cable. I think that should be enough for 10 cameras.
Re: Recommendations for pulling CAT6e wires in an existing home.. DIY or hire someone
I wouldn't mind someone doing it for me as well but I spent all the money on the camera system so now I have to do it myself.

That's quite a bit of money but it looks like they did a great job!
Re: Recommendations for pulling CAT6e wires in an existing home.. DIY or hire someone
What did they have to do? Did they open up the walls to run cables?
I bought 5 of these cameras. It seems that every time I buy something like a few days later the prices go down or a new replacement model take its place. That's the story of my life!
Off topic, but has Monoprice ever offered cat5e or 6 bulk cables during black friday?
Here is a link to both the one without POE ports and with POE ports. Also if you're going to get this, use the aliexpress app which makes the NVR a bit cheaper! I wish I had waited for the lower price which is about $40 less than what I paid...

I'm thinking you should invest in some flexible conduits so if you need to change the cable later, you can just use a fish tape to pull the wire(s).
