Thanks! I am still at DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.000.0000000.0.R.20190713 2019-07-13 and expect V4.001.0000000.3, Build Date: 2020-05-19 is a significant jump.
I have the Dahua NVR set to send email to text messages for certain intrusion and tripwire and always the one message with 3 (sometimes 2) photos and a 2nd message for Intrusion Stop.
If you set up appropriate firewall rules on the router that all of the cameras and NVR are connected to, there is No reason to unplug the Ethernet cable.
- Outbound Rule - Block all traffic

A great alternative to the ASUS router is the Peplink Pepwave Surf SOHO. The software is maintained, the router is incredibly stable, and it has VPN and VLAN.
Great question, as DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V3.216.0000006.0.R.20190223 is still the Firmware on the Dahua site. I'll ask on the ipcamtalk thread Big update!! NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.000.0000000.0.R.20190713
Yes, DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.000.0000000.0.R.20190713 solves the issue and is discussed in the thread Big update!! NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.000.0000000.0.R.20190713 (although I can't find the actual download link - you may have to ask @EMPIRETECANDY)
You may want to add the Pepwave Pelink Surf Soho to the VPN solution survey at the top. It has L2TP and VLAN built in, the software is actually maintained, tech support is responsive, and my until has been running great for a couple of years.
Thanks Andy! (EMPIRETECANDY) Nice updates.
I used a USB thumb drive to directly upgrade my DHI-NVR5216-4KS2 from DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V3_215_0000001_0_R_20180326 to DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.000.0000000.0.R.20190713 2019-07-13 and it went smoothly without having to do a reset to default...
