The problem I'm having is I already have a solution that works in-hand, I have a small camera that records to a flash SD card in a loop, exactly what I want, works perfectly. But its a cheap little spy camera that plugs into an outlet, it doesn't look like a full size camera and therefore is...
What about if I spent another $50 and got this unit, had it inside the building at the site, and then connected an external camera to it, plugged into a 120V power source? Would I be able to put the SD flash card in this device, and then have the flash loop recording I wished was just in the...
I'm not trying to save money!!!! I just want a simple camera that will motion record to an SD flash card in a loop WITHOUT WI-FI OR ROUTER required!!!!!
This site I need it for does not have a router or Wi-Fi Access available.
Sorry to verify so much but I've already bought 3 and returned...
Get a $44 IP3M-943W from amcrest.com or at ebay from amcrestdirect.
You would need a router and phone or PC for initial setup, but then install it anywhere without a router. It should just keep recording motion events to SD card in a loop, even after a camera power off/on or reboot.
Just...
$240?!!
I'm exhausted looking for an affordable solution to this.
Maybe I'll just use the little spy camera I already have, and go buy a dummy camera for 'display deterrent' purposes for about $10 bucks.
It would mean mounting an outlet outside.... but beggars can't be choosers.
Crazy how hard...
Just use this one.

Thanks, though this seems pretty loaded down with...
Um, most of us here have our cameras doing exactly that....
We have isolated the cameras from the internet so that they do not have access to the outside world.
WONDERFUL! Yes, please, an exact link to a specific model that worked for you would be great. As I said I have already bought 3...
Because the main purponse of the camera is to be a burglary deterrent simply by being visible. A spy camera is no good in this regard, that only helps you AFTER the crime and after the property is broken into and the stuff is stolen. Does that make better sense?
@mat200 yes that is exactly correct.
House wired 'spy' cameras that just write to flash SD in a loop were pretty easy for me to find. I have a couple as novelty items but spying on people is not really my game, nor do I have the time for that..... anyways eventually these things almost...
@Greg thanks that is the general idea, but doesn't really present itself as a theft deterrent and its also battery powered which means I have to keep driving over to the site and checking the batteries.
I imagine I could rig a mount to the building and perhaps hot-wire it to a DC adapter...
First, let me express my general frustration that every online forum eventually divides everyone up into so many blinking Sub-Forums, you can't ask a general question anywhere without most people not seeing it and its so much more inefficient. But things have been like that for decades.
