I bought avigilon in the end
maybe blue iris has been updated since I tried it.... can you click a slider and drag it around to manually scan through the recordings?
that's what I like doing.... can scan through really fast when not much is happening, then go really slow when a customers is being served / the till is...
I tried blue iris but didn't like the playback much... it was pretty slow
when I go check footage I like to scan through it quickly... Avigilon was awesome at that... simple slider to use, nice easy control
I thought.... I don't want/need any of the hundreds of other functions most other VMS...
that still adds up pretty quickly... I'd really like to add more cameras but that would make it too expensive
really liked the look of Milestone XProtect.... but the free version is limited to 8 cameras, after that it's £500 program license then £140 per camera :-(
any news/updates here / anything new? what did you do op?
I've used a bunch of different software over the years (from back before IP cameras were a thing)
running dahua cameras right now, and the dahue smartpss software... which is ok... ish... tends to crash during playback :-(
I tried...
hardware raid or software?
hardware a mirror actually preforms better than no raid, writes are done to both drives at the same time, but reads can be spread across both drives (so reads different things from each drive, since they're identical)
I tested out windows software raid (just for the...
I rolled back... made no difference to me
might be a silly question... but you're all running 64bit windows right?
checked to see if there was a new release of smartpss and noticed it's listed as 32bit... with no 64bit version to download... odd to mention 32bit?
my old (working) system was...
the NVR is a new version, (just checked I'm running version 3)
I'm sure I tried the older version... I might try it again.... the problem with the older version is the 2tb hd size limit... and it only supports 'normal# drive letters... C: D: E: etc... so when you run out of alphabet letters you...
nothing stood out in the event logs, so I cleared them
just flicked through recorded footage, lasted a bit longer thing time, sometimes crashes really quickly
4 new logs under security service "microsoft windows security auditing"

I had the same problem with older version and with this version... even formatted system and fresh installed newest version, same problem :-(
I can only assume it's a hardware incompatibility problem? - I thought/guessed maybe it didn't like the sas raid controller... but recording/playback to...
any ideas anyone?

was going to swap the old system into the new server case but old system doesn't have a spare pcie slow for the sas raid card :-(
think might have to buy a pci gfx card for the old system so i can use it like that, seams a shame...
it's always the server end that crashes, makes no difference if I view remotely or on the server itself
recorded to the OS ssd instead of the raid array but it mane no difference, server side crashed when I clicked around through recorded time
it seams to be ok if I click one time and view...

I've got 9 cameras running right now, used to have 4 on the old system (different pc) and playback wasn't a problem then

I swapped to a server case running...
