    Feedback on camera placement

Hello, Sort of noob here; been reading up a lot. I have created a layout of the house and shown arrows where I am thinking of putting the camera and their direction. The red arrows are 2MP starlights, the blue ones are 4K Lorex/Dahua from Costco (6 camera system). The left side and the back...

Correct on iOS. Started following that thread. Looks like an ipv6 versus v4 issue. I am going to look more into it.

Correct, I saw some complaints. In my case, app works fine if I allow NVR connectivity to the internet. VPN is the additional variable. 1) NVR not blocked on router + Tmobile = works 2) NVR blocked on router + VPN + Wifi = works 3) NVR blocked on router + VPN + Tmobile = Not working.

So far the remote access via VPN is working well when I am on wifi (work, coffee shop etc.). I noticed that it does not work when I am on cell network (T-Mobile) and trying to figure out what's going on. will keep updated.

Did you get to the point in the app where you add device by IP address? If not, we are most likely talking past each other. I have NVR locked down with no internet connectivity and finally got it to work via VPN.

You can use any name in that field. I call it "Home". Yes, same password as the one that you use at home to log in.

I have't compared all the menus but looks like FLIR Cloud app is tailored to their offerings. For example, in Device Manager, FLIR Cloud app only has two options, device ID or IP address. Dahua app offers more options like wifi device, wired device, cloud device, online search device. Then...

ok. spent more time doing this as it was troubling me. Finally got it working. Make sure that your VPN connection is working and you are on the home local network. From a web browser on your iPhone or iPad, you can type in the address of the router or the NVR and see if you are able to connect...

Sure will do. In the mean time, I used a laptop and installed openvpn client and FLIR Cloud Client on it and it seems to work every single time. If you have access to a laptop, you may want to give it a try.

It worked again today but now stopped working. I really need to put away my bottle of whiskey before tinkering with network settings ;) so I can keep track of what changed...

I think I am facing the same issue as you are. I have blocked access to the net using firewall rules. FLIR Secure app works fine when I am on local wifi. I have set up VPN on my router, able to log in and ping the NVR. So, I know that I have access to the home LAN. But, not able to get FLIR...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Everything is working the way I wanted except the system seems to lose connectivity every couple of days. At that point, I have to disable firewall rules and enable them again. Almost, like the connection is being "forgotten" and needs to be refreshed. Any thoughts on what might be causing it...
