Enabling H.265 hardware decode causes BI fault in module mfxplugin64_hw.dll

Unfortunately, task manager only shows my NVIDIA GPU and not the Intel HD 4000, so I can't tell what it's doing. I usually can tell if hw decode is on from the change in cpu load (eg cpu goes from 55% down to 25% if decode is working) . I only have 5 out of 15 cameras that can do h265, so I...

Enabling H.265 hardware decode causes BI fault in module mfxplugin64_hw.dll

That does work. With hardware acceleration disabled, h.265 works fine with all later BI versions. Unfortunately, this increases my CPU load from 25% to around 33%. So it's a pick your poison sort of thing. With h.264, I get lower cpu load thanks to hw decode, but higher network load and disk...

Enabling H.265 hardware decode causes BI fault in module mfxplugin64_hw.dll

Hmmm. I thought the status view window #'s were a reliable indicator of which cameras were using hw decode, but apparently not if h.265 isn't supported on 3rd gen cpus. Maybe in earlier versions, BI was doing the decode in software (with no indication), but now it attempts to have the...

Enabling H.265 hardware decode causes BI fault in module mfxplugin64_hw.dll

I think my cpu supports h.265. With BI version 5.2.4.3, all the h.265 cameras show the '#' symbol in the pixels column in status view window which I think means hw decode is being used.

Enabling H.265 hardware decode causes BI fault in module mfxplugin64_hw.dll

I reported this to BI support and haven't heard back yet, but I wanted to post here in case I'm missing something obvious or anyone else is getting tripped up by this. (it took some work to narrow it down). Intel hardware decode of h.265 streams appeared to be working in version 5.2.4.3 (and...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

No pics, but it's relatively straightforward. The Cat 5 goes to an active 48v-12v POE splitter like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Active-PoE-Splitter-Power-Over-Ethernet-48V-to-12V-Compliant-IEEE802-3af-15-4W-/191496679468?hash=item2c9617702c:g:izUAAOSwYIhWlL7Z The splitter RJ45 output goes...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

The cameras have been out for almost 2 weeks and we have had some strong wind driven rain. So far so good on that front. The board on top is partly for snow, partly as a falling object deflector (acorns, very small branches, etc), and partly to protect the camera from impact if the stand...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

I will as soon as I get the 2 new cams with POE installed. The cams I have are non-POE. I was hoping to avoid ordering 2 extra POE splitters. They're only $6 each, so I guess I'll just splurge. Thx. I spent way more time than I probably should have tinkering with the design, but they're...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

btw - here's an example of the rig I made for these cameras. The PVC tube on the back has the POE splitter and keeps all the connections dry. The external IR isn't absolutely necessary since these cameras do so well with low light, but it's nice to be able to point the LED slightly off center...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

I understand that's the intent, but power isn't directional and disconnecting the 12v 'input' from the camera's circuitry would probably require extra work and I had hoped they didn't bother. Also, if the POE board for the camera is built from a generic one-size-fits-all POE design, the 48v...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

Does anyone know if the 12v connector on the BS-BH24S200-POE is live when the camera is running from POE? If so, any idea if it could handle the load from a 7 watt external IR LED plus run the camera with its IR? My current wildlife camera setup uses non-POE BS-BH24S200 cameras. I use...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

It's been almost 4 hours since I unchecked PullPointSubscription in BI and so far no reboots from either Longse camera and 0 'No signals' from any camera in BI. I was seeing reboots every 40-45 minutes with PullPointSubscription set. I should note that I also unchecked PullPointSubscription...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

Good idea. It'd be interesting to know if the issue has to do with BI interaction. If either camera reboots again, I'll give this a try next.

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

Thanks for this. Since I unchecked PullPointSubscription (and changed from generic to longse), neither has rebooted. It's only been an hour or so, but I'm not sure I've seen a 1 hour period without at least one camera rebooting, so this is promising.

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I originally created the cameras in BI as generic and just changed them both to Longse. Hardware Acceleration is on but VPP is off. I unchecked the PullPointSubscription checkbox for each camera. For power, both cameras get 12 volts from active poe...
