    Attention Wansview IP camera users!

They must have made the firmware on the W9 similar to the older models. /live/ch0 ... is the same RTSP path for the older models before their cloud software. Kinda cool that you can use RTSP again, but I still wouldn't trust their security.

Feasibility of license plate reading at my house

You could attempt using a wireless PTP bridge with products similar to Ubiquiti, that use wireless base stations but are consistent and not actual WIFI SSID APs. Only thing would be that providing power to the remote base station would require 12v Solar or PoE somewhere. Solar would be a tough...

    Public Static IP

This is kind of off topic, but how rare is it for an ISP to dish out static IPs as part of the regular service? I have noticed that mine has only changed when the mac address on the router changed due to me getting a new one. I have had the same public ip address since I got my service 2 years...

    Attention Wansview IP camera users!

Wansview cameras are all cloud based now if I remember correctly. They stopped production of the W2 and W3 a whole ago and released their horrible cloud exclusive camera which doesn't have an RTSP server or Onvif compatibility. This is next to Zmodo level of sus.

2 Steps are Just Too Much

Even though the package was light... it ain't Frisbee golf practice man. Also, before you ask this is a camera that i'm hosting for a close relative, that's why it has less than ideal placement.

Proper recording / motion settings for blizzards?

This can be the same with rain, usually I have zone crossing set up and just record continuously because it obviously can be unreliable sometimes. Zone crossing usually gets the job done for high traffic areas, yet again you may just need a profile to disable triggering all together when these...

Neighbors motion detector lights setting off false alarms

It depends on what NVR or camera firmware you are using. It sounds like you are using a camera's built in motion detection, there should be a grid option of some sort to deselect parts of the image for motion detection.

    Blue Iris Failure

I had this problem till the 2nd to last update. I fixed it by reinstalling the service then setting a password as directed, it works fine for me now.

    Postal truck vs basketball hoop

I'm more surprised that that mirror on the back took the weight of a basketball hoop, they didn't mess around when mounting that thing. (I'm assuming the hoop was weighted down)

    Been Broken Into

What I would recommend for your situation is getting a wireless home security setup i.e: Simplisafe, the new Ring system, or something that isn't hardwired into your home. We all know how much a waste of money built in home security systems are so this may be a great option for you. I'm pretty...

Why don't TinyCam be on iOS

I was thinking of the background capabilities that iOS could do. iOS doesn't really like background apps and can be tricky when locking the screen. It isn't impossible but hard to find an app that is like android ip cam apps, such as ip webcam or tiny cam (android).
