    Need help picking new cams

I did all the settings on my "test bench" and it worked for 2 days, so I installed the cam. It quit recording 4 days later. Also, I don't get paid for testing garbage. Looking at your post count, do you get paid for that? Or are you the one selling Empiretech? Also, no test "bench" needed for...

Childish replies like that just confirm the bias that is being pushed here. I'll make sure to let folks know on my end to stay away from EmpireTec.

    Need help picking new cams

I was just wondering if this forum is sponsored by EmpireTec or something, so I looked around, and found that online shop selling... you guessed it... EmpireTec lol Now I know whats going on here. Yeah, both cams get returned and I'm done here.

That's why I wrote "who knows". Maybe Synology isn't adding new Dahua cam settings due to the political issues with China, they are Taiwan based after all. It doesn't even matter. The fact is, I have no support for that cam and I mentioned that my entire system is Synology based in my OP. Do you...

Max settings used to be 128. Maybe they forced it to max 20 because the hardware sucks. Instead of fixing the limitations, they just created a problem for the customer, assuming that most don't run 3 monitor stations plus a few app connections. The access to change settings pushed it over the...

I can access the cams through the Synology app on my phone, but that - afaik - only accesses the Synology NAS, connection is made through a Synology cloud, so no port forwarding here. I use that app maybe 3 times a week. If the max 10 connections triggers from those few app connections and 3...

And that's the model version I could find 2 weeks ago when I set everything up. It is not listed, so I picked the closest version: IPC-HDBW2231R-ZAS That was working until it stopped recording. What now..?

The connection issue is based on unknown and unchangeable timeout settings of that cam. Its a new(er) security feature that wasn't tested properly. Not being able to turn it off or change it to unlimited connections is yet another design failure. I could bring out my masters in computer science...

    Need help picking new cams

I didn't use the Synology surveillance station over night, hoping that any connections would fall off. Just tried to access the cam through the browser again. First attempt it claimed "Failed login" (whatever that means). Second time it came back to "The online user amount has reached the...

    Need help picking new cams

Bad news. I just found out that this EmpirTech cam stopped recording 10 days ago. This is REALLY bad, because if I ever need evidence of an incident, I need to be able to count on this hardware! I also need to be able to trust this cam and not stressing out that I have to check it every few...

    Need help picking new cams

I installed that EmpireTech IPC-B22IR-ZAS S3 cam. Took a while to find a compatible DAHUA model for the Synology Surveillance Station control interface (it is: IPC-HDBW2231R-ZAS). And the frame rate is finally a full 30 FPS at 1080. No more lagging. Both stream and recordings! :) I'll order...

So all cams in their own vlan? What about the NAS that runs the Surveillance Station? Doesn't that have to be on the same vlan? And that NAS needs to have internet so that I can check the streams when I'm not home.

Little update on those 4 dome cams with IR leakages. I cleaned the glass and added some foam. The IR reflections are gone. :) Saves me 600 bucks right there. Thanks guys! For the one dead indoor cam I ordered a VIVOTEK FD9369-F2 because all the VIVOTEK cams I own, have lasted 10 years without...
