Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)
Great thread and info. Anyone have a picture of one of these beasts mounted on your wall? I'm coming from the older turrets (2335 I think), and these things look massive. It's good to be noticed but don't want them too noticeable if you know what I mean. Guess bigger is better. :) -

HIK NVR keeps dying. Are there alternatives?
I'm running a rebranded hik nvr (LTS). Is the failure rate on these things really that high? Maybe some of you have bad luck? Looking for better nighttime performance between those 5 cameras
Has anyone compared the 2386G2 and 2346G2 cameras? The 4MP colovu has a 1/2.7" sensor and the 2386g2 has a 1/1.8" sensor. I would think in this case the low light performance might be similar/comparable due to the larger sensor? If anyone has any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks for the real... -

Acusense DS-2CD2386G2-ISU/SL (Turret Camera) - Initial Impressions
Thanks for this review. My complaint with the colorvu models was the lack of IR, and this looks to "fix" that issue and has a large image sensor for an 8MP cam at 1/1.8". I also have a few darkfighter 2335's and some worse 2042 models (I think). I will order one of these to see how it compares. -

Forgive the basic question but does this this camera use a larger mount size than the older turret style hikvision cams? Is it the same size as the colorvu or a little smaller? Thanks! Turret wall mounting for HikVision, can it be done with outdoor units?
Yes, you can easily mount directly to the wall. The two installers I know locally don't normally use the junction boxes as they're bulky. If you have vinyl siding you can leave the connections behind the siding, but with brick like someone said you'll need to drill a larger hole. -

It sounds like you are best off with Ring or some other such off the shelf device that is simpler. The only other alternative is you spend some more time finding a good contractor who's really knowledgeable who can help you. As with most contractors these days, it's hard to find good ones that... -

Thanks for the help! I tried several different IP addresses. Try to bear with me as I ramble on, I tried many different things. The IPs of the cameras on the NVR are 192.168.188.X. Well I've about pulled my hair out.. Sorry for not mentioning but the firmware of the cam was on 5.5.3. I'm just trying to upgrade to 5.5.51 and we'll see how it goes..
