    I tried a WD Purple WD121PURP and I get a drive error right away.. thought maybe it was too big for the system to recognize, but it sounds like I may have a bad drive.

    The siding on this house is Hardie board.. and it stood up fairly well, only exception being where it took direct hits from flying debris. the splatter paint look is from flying mud and leaves.

    I have been running pfSense for the last 3-4 years as well on a Protectli Vault at our house and love the flexibility and stability (can be a bit overwhelming at first) For clients, I often use the Ubiquiti UDRs for ease of access/manageability as well.

    Make sure you set the doorbell to utilize a static IP address as well to prevent it from dropping later or rolling to a new IP address.
