  • HI guys, this an informative website, thanks for hosting it for newbies like me.

I landed here hoping to get some help to hopefully resuscitate my RCA HSDB2 which I bought in August 2020. It worked perfectly for almost one year then last week it dropped the WiFi connection and I can't reconnect to my network. So far I've reset the device to factory settings as well as deleted the device from the app. Now when I try to reinstall as a new device and I follow the prompts to enter my SSID and password the system responds displaying:

"In Settings of the mobile phone connect to WiFi: HSDB2_C9675** (Doorbell Serial number) , WiFi password: HSDB2_NU**. Once connected, Please return to RCA Security App"

In other words, it has ignored/overridden the SSID and password that I input and there is no "HSDB2_C96...." SSID in the list of SSIDs on my phone. Hence the device can't be reinstalled.

Is there any known way to force the app to accept my info so I can reconnect the doorbell to my network? FYI, I called the RCA helpline and they didn't offer a solution as the agent told me that RCA has "moved away from doorbells given the competition from Ring and similar products."

I apologize for the length of my question and would appreciate any suggestions leading to a solution.

    Thanks and kindest regards.
